Hawaii and American Samoa's Wellspring of Football Talent
Honolulu Civil Beat

Interesting read on the history and rising pool of Hawaiian and Samoan players in college (over 200) and the NFL (over 50). I have always wondered how good Hawaii could be on a national level if they could keep all of these players in state. Would they become a perennial power? It makes one wonder if Hawaii could somehow get into the PAC 12, if they could keep these players at home and become a giant? Interesting read nonetheless.

The PAC 12 doesn’t want the logistical nightmare of having a team that’s a 5 hr plane flight from California

Out of curiousity, how far of a plane flight is Washington from say, LA?

The PAC 12 is loaded with Samoans....THAT is the real reason the PAC 12 would never invite Hawaii. 2 additional hrs for flights to Hawaii isn't a big deal...losing all of that talent to Hawaii is a big deal. The PAC 12 uses Hawaii and Samoa as a playground for talent.

They should only play at traditional Samoan colleges. They are getting fricked over by white colleges is the next ESPN article.

This plus these guys want off the Rock as fast as possible

You would need a Saban like coach to keep them there

It was only a matter of time - genetics and shite.

It's not just big beefy dudes either - they are producing lop level HS/college QBs now too (The Tagovailoas, DJ Uiagalelei, etc.).
