quote:

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita State Director of Athletics Darron Boatright has accepted the resignation of head men’s basketball Coach Gregg Marshall, effective immediately.

“This was a difficult decision, but one I feel was necessary for my family, the university and, most importantly, the student-athletes,” Marshall said. “I remain grateful for my years spent at Wichita State. I wish to thank the coaches, student-athletes, the university, the community, and all of Shocker Nation for their unending dedication, support and loyalty. I am incredibly proud of this men’s basketball program and all it has achieved over the past 14 years and am confident of its continued success.”

I think the moral of the story is pretty basic: If you can avoid acting like a total bag of dicks, then you have a great chance of keeping your high-paying job.

Had to wonder why he never got a bigger job. I’m sure he was compensated well but figured a bigger school would have really ponied up

They had to escort her out of the arena because she was losing her shite over that loss too.

Johnny Jones never acted like “a total bag of dicks”, did he keep his high-paying job?

Sometimes people like that have a fierce competitive streak inside of them and it drives their program to great heights.

He was the number 1 guy on Mitch’s list to replace Cal if he bolted for the NBA....that as until his wife put on the performance in the NCAA against us...Gregg was quickly removed form the list.

I wanted him badly when we hired Johnny and Will. Of course there was a point in time where I liked Crean

My implication was that as long as you are doing good at your job and don't act like a bag of dicks, you can keep it.

Maybe some of those guys are good at coaching because of their mentality that causes them to go overboard at times. When they cross the line, you gotta do what you gotta do, but many successful coaches were wired that way:
Bear Bryant
Woody Hayes
Bob Knight
Nick Saban
Gregg Marshall

One of these is not like the others

I didn’t call him an all time great, but he did a super job at Wichita State. One final four appearance and a separate 35-1 season is pretty darn good.

But I do concede, his resume is not in the category of the others I mentioned.

I never understood it either. I’m still waiting to hear more. I mean, was he just a verbally abusive a-hole to his team? I feel like there’s gotta be more.

What did his wife do? I’ve heard she’s a loose cannon.

Bama would have ponied up but had to settle for Avery
