Gonzaga's Mark Few

I've noticed that Mark Few is a lifelong Pacific Northwest guy (Creswell, Oregon and University of Oregon alum). Few has been at Gonzaga in some capacity since 1989.
Obviously, it looks like Few is a lifer at Gonzaga. Has he ever expressed why he has wanted to stay at Gonzaga instead of pursuing one of the bigger schools? Do you know of any other schools that have made a significant push for him that were in serious contention?
It's crazy to think that Oregon, given their Nike influence, hasn't given Few a check that he couldn't say no to.

He is happy at where he is.

I get that and I applaud him for building a nothing program and sticking with the university.
In this day and age, it's rare for coaches to stay with one school (some even one league). I was just curious if he's ever really thought about accepting a different job (NBA or college) and if Oregon (or any others really) have ever made a push.

I won a vacation package at a Pelicans game the season before last. We used it Mardi Gras 2017, took the family skiing.
Flew into Spokane, did snow tubing & skiing in Montana, Idaho, Washington.
My wife asked me to look at the prices for a Gonzaga game, they were undefeated & were playing BYU.
The tickets for that game were more expensive then all of plane flights.

He's exactly where he wants to be in life, not just obsessed with doing more with less like some insane coaches. It's refreshing to see.

He probably remembers what happened to his predecessor after he left. And he has just as good of a chance winning where he is than Washington or Oregon.

Yeah I think that’s exactly why he didn’t move to a bigger job. Monson moved to
The Big 10 and got fired and now he’s at a smaller program (Long Beach, I believe).

Early in his head coaching career I think he interviewed for some other jobs. I know for a fact he talked with Tennessee when we hired Buzz Peterson.

I remember an interview he did a few years ago talking about how he'd expanded upon the work of Monson to the point where he didn't feel the needed to join a big name power five type program as his team and all that accompanies that was on par with them.. He seemed to take pride in the fact that Gonzaga had reached the national level of respect of many blue blood programs.

He has as much job security in Spokane as any coach in college. If he goes somewhere else he’s probably gone in 3-4 years if he doesn’t win right away. I’m not going to lie. Pacific Northwest sounds awfully appealing to me to call home.

If I was Stanford I'd write him a blank check for as long as he wanted.

I would too. How much is Gonzaga paying him? Would they open the wallet to keep him? Stanford basketball has really plateaued over the years. I remember when they had Montgomery they were a force to be reckoned with. I was watching them the other night, and Maples Pavilion looked half empty. That used to be a good basketball environment.

I was told by a friend in the Athletic Dept there that the season ticket list is so long (25 year waiting list) that only about 15 season tickets come up for renewal each year and a cheap seat costs $50k with better seats fetching over $500k a seat in Spokane.
The place is all about college basketball. Just like Kansas and Duke.
