If you watch close you can see Gronk start to move to curl back to the ball and Luke is already wrapped around him and forcing him backwards. If Luke isn't touching him like that he can easily come up and attempt to fight for the ball.

Gronk totally should have stopped all of his momentum completely while simultaneously running through/over an NFL linebacker who was running full speed.

Ball was under thrown, and would have been intercepted anyways. Clean. Sorry Patriots fan.

I know they're lots of saints fans here that are biased, but 99% of the people that aren't Carolina or Auburn fans are saying the Pats got screwed.

If it's a hold, they move it down the field 5 yard.

PI places it at the 1 I believe.

Again, it's not holding when the ball is in the air. Holding has to occur before the pass.

I just dont think it really matters...there was NO WAY that ball was getting caught. NO frickING WAY.

Unless Robert Lester turned into a fricking ghost, then there is no way in hell that Gronk was going to able to catch that ball. Lester is already breaking to the ball before Gronk even tried to change his direction.

Robert Lester jumped the route before Gronk was held. Not that it negates the penalty, but people saying that was a TD without the holding are crazy

I don't think anyone has said it would have been a TD without the PI.

The 2nd post in this thread does, unless it's some failed attempt at sarcasm

Not a Patriots fan, but that was a penalty. Ball was under thrown for sure, but it was still in the vicinity of the receiver and he was wrapped up and driven backwards while the ball was still in the air, and even if the interception was going to happen anyway, the foul was committed first.
