for alignment I'd just get a couple alignment rods and go to the range and try these club paths for the best fit for your natural swing

club not important.

lessons are.

learn how to hit the ball so it ends up in the course.
"in the woods" has nada to do with the club. its your swing.

let me guess. you think you need club speed (112 MPH).

If you will learn a nice easy swing you will hit it straight with a club you picked up at the driving range.

No. I don't think I need club speed to hit it straight.

I really can't stress enough not to listen to the people telling you to swing easy. Swing better but keep your speed. Distance is such a huge advantage especially with modern, more forgiving clubs. Just look at the pros they swing 85-95%.

Not if you are a slicer of the golf ball. Hogan fought a massive hook. His lessons are great for those who do the same. While the principals of the book can be translated, Hogan's rules are not for everyone.

Let me give you some advice,,.

If Ben Hogan said to do it, then your 12 handicap arse needs to be doing it.

Not at pinewood anymore as of last week. He is moving to tchefuncte cc.

Edit - Back to the importance of fitting, I believe it is one of the most parts of the game. I have been working on my game for years and had lessons with a dozen top teachers and I discovered more about my swing in one hr on trackman than I had learned in the last 10 yrs. I am going thru an entire bag club change and my misses are shrinking considerably.

Never paid attention to it to be honest. I think I'm going to hit up Edwin Watts today. Will report back.

I hit a natural fade with my irons. I should be thinking about bringing the handle of the iron towards my belt buckle? And, I'm a 6 hcp, nerd.

I don't trust watts to put on a grip let alone provide ball speed and a smash factor. The only accurate systems that provide those numbers are trackman and flightscope. The rest of those systems are like a video game and can be manipulated to produce farce results
