CBS Austin: 2 dead overnight in a motorcycle accident
quote:
Austin-Travis County EMS reported that the crash happened at the 5600 block of Mount Bonnell Road at 10:22 p.m. Initial reports stated a “vehicle and person on fire,” according to EMS. Medics declared a man and a woman in their 30's deceased on scene. Two other patients refused transport to the hospital. A spokesperson with the police department states that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on RM 2222 when it struck the white minivan that was pulling out of Mount Bonnell onto the roadway. The two people who died on scene were on the motorcycle, the spokesperson said.

Awful news. He was a great player. One of the best on those Texas teams before the program became soft.

He was probably drunk considering he’s had like 5 DUI’s.

I don’t know the circumstances but can imagine some soccer mom or old lady putting on make up , texting or talking on cell phone . I use to ride the stretch of 2222 from Oasis to Capital Texas highway a lot. Now it’s so busy and people will run over you while looking you in the eye. I just don’t ride into town anymore.

No, it's just a really dangerous road. A lot of blind curves with elevation changes. Motorcycles are dangerous enough on their own.
-at night
-blind curves
-rolling hills
-passenger on back
Recipe for disaster.
I was almost hit by motorcycle on that exact road one time and it slammed head on into the car behind me instead.

Ya RM2222 could be used in a car commercial, it's that type of road.

CedBen was an all timer at UT- I’m sorry to hear this.

Why would any intelligent person ride a motorcycle......and this is coming from a former rider

I remember watching those unstoppable Midland Lee teams with him and Eric Winston. He rushed for 3,500 yards his senior year and is still in the Tx HS top ten for career rushing yards.

Damn that's awful, prayers to his family. 2004 Doak Walker award winner, a fantastic talent.
