Finalists For The Broyles Award
Posted by pioneerbasketball on 12/4/17 at 6:30 pm31
For The First Time Ever, It will be broadcasted live. I'm not sure if it will be just local coverage or national. I will post a link if I can find the broadcast. The final five will travel to Little Rock, Ark. for the announcement of the 2017 Broyles Award winner on Tuesday, December 5th at the Marriott Hotel.

Jim Leonhard might be the biggest overachiever of all time.
He had no D1 scholarship offers out of high school and managed to be a 3-time All-American in college as a walkon. He managed a 9-year career in the NFL being an undersized, slow, white DB. And now he's up for the Broyles Award in only his second year of coaching.

I'm kind of hoping he wins it just to see my LSU brethren melt like crazy.

The Oklahoma guy will win when it’s 95% because he has really good players.

Why? No one would consider him better than Aranda.

Couldn't stop Clemson, LSU or Georgia when he needed to.

Oklahoma – Bill Bedenbaugh, Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line
Only played one good defense (TCU twice)

UCF – Troy Walters, Offensive Coordinator
Did Frost really call the plays?

Maybe this guy should get it?

The first TD was on Jim Leonhard. Ohio State ran a hurry-up and Wisconsin abandoned the middle of the field and left Joe Ferguson (backup Wisconsin safety, grandson of Barry Alvarez) on an island with two Ohio State receivers streaking down the seam.
The last two touchdowns were a product of poor tackling, which, I suppose you can blame Leonhard for, but one came from Natrell Jamerson (most snaps without a missed tackle among P-5 safeties). Uncharacteristic.
ETA: Wisconsin offense doesn't have a chance to win that game without Jim Leonhard's defense. They forced three turnovers, which resulted in 17 points.

Most of my post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Leonhard is a good coach. He can't make the tackles for them.
