Final Qualifying for the U.S. Open is known as the "Longest Day in Golf," and players compete for 36 holes across various sites in their quest to earn the right to compete in the year's third major. The U.S. Open is traditionally known as the most democratic of golf's biggest events because it offers so many spots to qualifiers.
Local Qualifying for the 2022 U.S. Open was held at 109 sites between April 25 and May 23. Those who advanced have earned the right to compete in 36-hole Final Qualifying, held at 11 sites; two on May 23, nine on June 6.

One of the most competitive qualifying sites in Columbus, OH includes Ryan Palmer, Joel Dahmen, Cameron Champ, Jason Dufner, & Former LSU Tiger John Peterson playing in a field of 106 players for 13 available spots.

Qualified there in 1996 (US Open at Oakland Hills) when it was known as Settindown Creek GC. Craig Hartle, who was the pro at the Sheraton-Savannah GC on Wilmington Island when I grew up there, was the head pro then.
Ansley GC, a 9 hole private facility in Midtown, "merged" (read bought) with Settindown Creek in 1999.

Another former Tiger, Curtis Thompson, is playing in the Ontario qualifier & is 1 shot off current top 3 or better. T6 at -6 with 9 holes to go. 3 spots available for only 25 players in field.

Apparently Rickie Fowler shot a 73 and is in 34th place. He sure has dropped off

He’s T5 at -2 right now. But finished with his round. He’s not gonna make the top 4.

No, I missed the cut.
