Fill me in: does Lonzo Ball even come close to being worth the headache of his father?

I don't follow the NBA well enough to know how good of a player Lonzo has been so far, but with as much as Lavar runs his mouth I feel confident saying they are playing with equity that Lonzo hasn't earned yet. Is it worth another team to have him and put up with Lavar, especially if you aren't the team he had in mind? I know he'll still be in the league, but does anyone really want him at this point?

Him shooting less than 50 % at free throws as a guard is the real headache.

quote:

“Luke Walton was the worst coach he ever had,” LaVar told Doug & Wolf. “It was Magic [Johnson] the one who said he was going to be the dang face of the franchise. But Magic ain’t doing no coaching. And the only person to kill Lonzo is the coach pulling him out and not having no confidence in him.

“Everyone who’s had confidence in Lonzo just let him go and let him win. That’s what he does. He wins. Luke Walton turned him into a loser. A loser’s mentality is like, ‘Oh, he’s young, he’ll get it.’ Instead of going out there and letting him do what he does.”

quote:

“I gave the Lakers the first right of refusal to get all three of the Ball boys. They didn’t want that. I’m telling you. My boys are going to take over the NBA. They didn’t use Lonzo the right way. Put him in a corner. “He makes everybody better. That’s why the Lakers look so raggedy right now. You can’t put him in the corner. He can’t make nobody better.”

quote:

“AD is good. But he’s not a winner. How many playoff games has he won? He’s been in the league a long time, there’s a difference between players and winners.”

I don't understand how Lonzo hasn't at least mentioned a few times that his fathers opinions have nothing to do with him. It's like he enjoys being embarrassed

He only averages 1.2 FTA a game.

I don’t watch a ton of lakers so i don’t want to comment too much. I just haven’t been impressed when I have watched him

You can tell by looking at him and any of the Ball boys that they are whipped and submissive to the will of the father. He won't say a word against him.

Injury prone, can’t shoot, daddy issues.

But according to Lebron dick riders he’s a great asset that any team should be happy to trade their star player for. Unless he doesn’t get traded. Then he sucks and Lebron needs more help. Quite a conflicting time for the dick riders.

He actually has numerous times. He said his dad does not speak for him or define him as a player or teammate. He’s his own man and his father loves to talk and there’s nothing he can do about that. He also mentioned Lavar has always been that way and he can only control what he does on the court and speak for himself. Lonzo is the opposite of Lavar. I almost wish he was a little like Lavar and had more confidence.

Lonzo may not be that great but I certainly have respect for him as a person unlike his father.

He’s a guard with a worse shot than Shaq.

Sounds like an awful little league parent.

With LeBron being a Laker, and having him and his agent basically control Lavar’s opportunity to be in the spotlight for the most part, I didn’t think that Lonzo had to say anything about that.

Lonzo has been an above average defender, passer and rebounder.

His shot is obviously the major issue. It looks better at times, but he hasn't shown the consistent improvement you'd want.

I feel bad for him with LaVar. Everything I've seen says Lonzo is a nice, quiet kid. LaVar put a ton of pressure on him that couldn't be good for a young kid, and he doesn't deserve to be lumped in with his dad's antics.
