Even when it goes to 48...you will NEVER see a 13-0 game in the first round! Maybe a 6-0 type of game, but never a 13-0 completely ridiculous game. I mean really, how did Thailand qualify?? How bad must the teams be that they beat to get into the World Cup?

Thailand qualified because the Asian confederation sucks.

Also for the 2026
That’s 16 extra teams being added
Russia just beat San Marino in Euro qualifying 9-0

I think a better team like say France or Germany would have a 9 or 8-0 games in the group stages

Which proves my point to be honest.

It also depends on what confederation gets more teams to qualify? I don't think using San Marino as an example is a good choice. San Marino wouldn't qualify if it were expanded to 100 teams.

I agree. It will just make for less meaningful games during the tournament.

Europe would get the most at the 48 team cup because it’s the best confederation
I’m not using San Marino as an example but I could definitely see a team like Brazil smoke some team 9-0 from the Men’s Asian confederation (say Lebanon or Uzbekistan) that Qualifies in 2026

It’s getting too big and will just get bigger

Just like the CFP in the future

Disagree about Europe getting most of the bids 100%. Do you realize how much money the FIFA World Cup lost because of the USA not qualifying? Ratings were down significantly! You better believe that this is expanding to eliminate that from EVER happening again.

The US Women’s team is an extremely unlikable group of women and them running it up on Thailand is nowhere near impressive.

For the 2026 World Cup (that will be 48 teams) it’s already been approved
Europe will get 16 bids
FIFA has yet to announce which of the 3 hosts will get buds but it is anticipated all 3 will get them (The 2026 World Cup is here, Canada and mexico)

There’s nothing to disagree with Europe will get the most bids

CAF (Africa): 9 slots
AFC (Asia): 8 slots
UEFA (Europe): 16 slots
CONCACAF (North and Central America and Caribbean): 6 slots
OFC (Oceania): 1 slot
CONMEBOL (South America): 6 slots
Playoff: 2 slots

And this is for 2020 (Qatar already qualifies as the host)
CAF (Africa): 5
AFC (Asia): 4.5 (not including host nation)
UEFA (Europe): 13
CONCACAF (North and Central America and Caribbean): 3.5
OFC (Oceania): 0.5
CONMEBOL (South America): 4.5

Also the ratings weren’t down.
The World Cup had no issues with ratings

Yes, some of them are unlikeable, but they ARE our team. I will not root against them simply because they ran it up against a team that had absolutely no reason to be there. This is an indictment on women's sports...not our team! Imagine if we literally passed the ball back and forth for 30+ minutes so we didn't hurt anybody's feelings! The same people complaining about running up the score would be the same people complaining about disrespecting their opponent for not playing and taking it easy on them. Hey, if FIFA says Thailand is a worthy World Cup qualifier, then you take them at their word. Again, the reason so many "experts" in the media are pissed, is because this just exposed the fact that womens sports, in this case soccer, isn't that competitive. It highlights that there are not even 24 competitive countries in the world that play soccer. Think about that for a second!!

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I said they wont get 100% of the bids, which looking at what you posted solidifies my point, CONCACAF will get 3 more bids. That is exactly what i said, this was done to ensure the USA will never be left out of the World Cup again.

Okay i read that wrong but Who the frick would think they’d get 100%?
You said you wouldn’t think they’d have the most.
They’ll have 16, that’s the most

USA most likely already has a bid for 2026

It’s funny about the experts.
After the game on Fox all the former players (not even all Americans) were in favor of USA doing what they did.

The guy who didn’t like it was the main studio analyst who did not play soccer professionally etc

Ratings Down 44%

Also, you are 100% wrong on that. The ratings in America for the World Cup were abysmal in 2018

Our men’s team is terrible and they would name their score. People are so focused on trying to be “equal” that they lose all sight of rationality.

This is stupid. Do you think they give a damn about one market? The US is only a small portion of the World Cup ratings market. This isn’t an American League where us ratings are everything.

Some of you seriously have no concept of the rest of the world at all.

Why wouldn't they give a damn about the US market? We're the third most populous country behind China and India who didn't qualify either. (Has India ever qualified?)

The only two countries with even half of our population that are regulars are Brazil and Nigeria. I'm sure Brazil gets the highest percentage of ratings, but I wouldn't be surprised if the USA is 2nd in years we are in. That's a big chunk to lose.

I’m not sure how percentages of other go but China who didn’t qualify had 655.7
Million viewers of the World Cup. (18.4% of the viewers per reports)

LINK

It’s always good to have the USA to qualify as it’s more views for them with people just watching for watching America, as it can’t hurt to have more money.

But compared to the WC before, it went up so it’s not like they were hurting

Probably attributed to the large increase in Chinese viewers. I would think that’s around the amount of Money China had recently starting putting in its professional league with buying some very big names and gaining more and more fans of the sport.
