After 17 years, two time world champion, Fernando Alonso will be out of F1.

Looks to be going for the triple crown, Indy 500 will be fun to watch.

Fernando, who turned 37 in July, is competing in his 17th F1 season, his fifth with McLaren, and has amassed 32 wins, 22 pole positions and 97 podiums to date. Beyond his two titles – in 2005 he became the then-youngest world champion in F1 history – Fernando has been championship runner-up three times.

Will be sad to lose such a great personality in a group of exceedingly cardboard drivers

Given the car that McLaren has given him the last couple of years, I don't blame him.

I think he has more fun doing the WEC racing.

I bet being on McLaren and not really having the ability to be competitive has a lot to do with it. It’s unfortuate that McLaren can’t get their act together, he’s a great talent.

No doubt his dealings with Mclaren are playing a huge role in this. He loves to race and even if he was in a proper ride I'm not sure if he would get his fix in F1.

Also think he may have waited to see where all the drivers shook out this year before announcing. Thinking maybe Ferrari had a slight desire.

Sucks, but not surprising.

Hope he returns with a much better ride in 2020. Or if not, he'll race elsewhere.

Of course, but also the fact that Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull were not interested in him is the other big part of the equation. Horner basically called him a troublemaker.
