FCS Weekly Thread
Posted by sms151t on 11/6/17 at 12:32 pm20
The new poll has been released and there has been movement due to 2 top teams being beaten last week.
The worst omission is still there and it is almost certain that somebody does not like this team, y'all know. They did not move up or down, just the same.
As always will bold the MVC SLC teams, Italics the Louisiana teams. Teams with Stars are ineligible.

i have nothing to offer for FCS, but i am literally rubbing my nipples at the thought of a ranked game friday night pac12 after dark.
the fact that it is on fs1 prevents me from going further...

McNeese blowing that first game to the Colonels will cost them the playoffs. I don't think they would have gone far anyway. Sam Houston and Central Arky are clearly the class of the conference.

Definitely didn't help us. Some of our fanbase still believes we have a shot at the playoffs. I just don't see it. If our records are equal, and we get in over Nicholls, I just don't see how we deserve it.

Nothing classy about Sam Houston. Sorry. Lmao!

Experts prediction of the bracket. I will underline what I posted earlier, bold the SLC MVC teams. It is outright and blatantly obvious that Nicholls is getting hosed in this deal somehow
Teams we differ on:
Colgate/Lehigh
NAU/Eastern Washington
UNI/McNeese
Monmouth/New Hampshire
Delaware/Illinois St
Colgate-Stony Brook winner at No. 1 seed James Madison
Northern Arizona-Weber State winner at No. 8 seed South Dakota State
Duquesne-South Dakota winner at No. 5 seed Sam Houston State
Western Illinois-Western Carolina winner at No. 4 seed Central Arkansas
San Diego-Southern Utah winner at No. 3 seed North Dakota State
Furman-Kennesaw State winner at No. 6 seed Elon
Monmouth-Delaware winner at No. 7 seed Wofford
Samford-Northern Iowa winner at No. 2 seed Jacksonville State
For reference here is my bracket:
Eastern Washington @ New Hampshire, winner plays 1. James Madison
Lehigh @ South Dakota, winner plays 8. Wofford
Western Carolina @ Southern Utah, winner plays 4. Sam Houston St
Kennesaw St @ Weber St, winner plays 5. North Dakota St
McNeese @ Illinois St, winner plays 2. Jacksonville St
Duquesne @ Western Illinois, winner plays 7. Elon
Furman @ Samford, winner plays 3. Central Arkansas
San Diego @ Stony Brook, winner plays 6. South Dakota St

Did I miss something here?
I don't think either of us get in at 9-2. The league is shite this year with the exception of Sam and Central who were leaps and bounds better than anyone else.

You are missing a bunch. Nicholls at 9-2 is more deserving than Delaware, Monmouth, UNI. I do not think Nicholls is better than UNI though.
Nicholls keeps winning but stays same place, everyone else around them moves. The SLC is a 3 team league considering they are hyping Delaware and Monmouth, you can not convince me either one of them are better than:
McNeese
UNI
Nicholls
Illinois St

I don't know anything about Monmouth or Delaware, but I'd have a hard time arguing McNeese is better than anyone else outside of the SLC right now. Monmouth is winning the Big South though, so you've got me really confused there.
Why? Because our only non-SLC FCS opponent is from the SWAC, and the best team we have beaten in the SLC may finish with a losing record. How the hell can anyone argue we are better than anyone else right now? The only teams with a pulse that we played? 1-2 against Alcorn, Nicholls, and Central Arkansas.
McNeese hasn't done shite to be in the conversation. We beat up on crappy SLC teams. This all may be self deprecating, but I'd like to see someone argue that we actually did something this year.
Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy with a 9-2 year after going 6-5 last year, but it isn't a playoff-worthy 9-2.

Kennesaw St is the Big South leader, not Monmouth. Kennesaw also plays Monmouth at home last game of the year. The only team that is any good that Monmouth has played will be Kennesaw. The only other possible playoff team will be Lehigh, who still may not get into the playoffs.
Using Sagarin rankings
McNeese is 152
Monmouth is 162
Delaware is 129
Nicholls is 176
UNI is 89
Illinois St is 100
Youngstown who is 4-5 has a ranking of 93

Not saying the Sagarin rankings are end all be all, but McNeese is better than Monmouth and Delaware gets a push due to playing CAA which some want to say is the toughest conference out there, yet the only team ranked 100 or lower is JMU.
If you use Massey
UNI is 13
Delaware is 16
Illinois St is 18
Monmouth is 25
McNeese is 30
Nicholls is 36

Am I missing something here? Because the Big South's website shows Kennesaw and Monmouth, both at 8-1, 3-0 in the conference.
When I look at those ratings, I wonder what they are using, becaude I just don't see how McNeese is that high. Our schedule has been dogshit this year.
