Football can be the "perfect setup" to spread the coronavirus, so diligent testing and how the nation responds to a second wave of the virus in the fall will help determine what the 2020 NFL season could look like, Dr. Anthony Fauci told NBCSports.com.

quote:

This is a respiratory virus, so it's going to be spread by shedding [the] virus. The problem with virus shedding is that if I have it in my nasopharynx, and it sheds and I wipe my hand against my nose -- now it's on my hand. You see, then I touch my chest or my thigh, then it's on my chest or my thigh for at least a few hours. Sweat as such won't transmit it. But if people are in such close contact as football players are on every single play, then that's the perfect setup for spreading. I would think that if there is an infected football player on the field -- a middle linebacker, a tackle, whoever it is it -- as soon as they hit the next guy, the chances are that they will be shedding virus all over that person.

quote:

If you really want to be in a situation where you want to be absolutely certain, you'd test all the players before the game. And you say, 'Those who are infected: Sorry, you're sidelined. Those who are free: Get in there and play.'"

quote:

Fauci said ultimately a football season "will be entirely dependent on the effectiveness with which we as a society respond to the inevitable outbreak that will occur" in the fall.

It'll suck having no football this year.

I mean I figured this was the plan all along for all sports.

The good news is that the NFL has already shown that they do not give two shits about player safety so they will do everything they can to make sure there is football. College however is in serious danger I am starting to think.

But athletes are at virtually no risk of dying from the virus.

I guess Andy Reid is the one we would be worried about.

Right, but also the second wave won't be until the fall? Why not just start opening things back up and then we can deal with the second wave sooner? If it even exists.

Shouldn't Charles Barkley be dead?

Didn't he have Covid? And he's a former athlete like football players.

What about those NBA players that got it back in February?

Are they all dead?

None of that matters in the effort to keep things shut down.

At this point it doesn't even matter anymore. The people in charge of things are trying to wreck life as we knew it permanently and they won't stop until everything is destroyed. I just want to be able to provide for my family and at some point that is going to be taken away from me too. This goes way beyond sports alone but it will be on display more with the destruction of the sporting events.

Why are we listening to this hack? Wonder if he's got his hands in the corona vaccine patent?

The poor kickers, they keep moving the goal posts back.

That’s what I was thinking. Can you imagine trying to game plan knowing that multiple players may be removed in pregame?
