Why would wizards do this trade? Beal isn’t the type of guy you dump for Pennies.

I mean, anyone saying this hasn’t watched him much lately. He sucks, and he had a no-trade clause

Nowadays front offices are so terrified to piss a player off and make him play so he can basically tell them he’s sitting out, AND dictate what team he wants to go to, aka Washington has zero leverage

Beal has been their star player for 5 years. They've won 32, 25, 34, 35, 35 games. This is obviously an admission of humongously screwing up not trading him years ago and giving him a no trade was flat incompetent but not having to pay him the terrible contract they gave him is a win.

they just got off the worst contract in pro sports. You take what you can get. They got Paul’s massive expiring contract to clear the books, and have their own draft picks which are sure to be high.

They’re giving up a washed Chris Paul and Landry Shamet for an elite scorer. That’s a great trade.

This is a great move for phx imo. Beal can just run 2nd team units and dominate.

Beal and 4 random guys that stand around to watch Beal chuck? This isn’t like Harden with the Nets. Beal isn’t the same facilitator or one man offense that Harden is.

Will work sometimes. They still have massive depth problems.

I really thought Orlando made sense for him if he wanted to cement himself as alpha.

Fultz
Beal
Wagner
Banchero
Carter

Could have had some depth pieces and then maybe a 6 or 11 pick to make something happen.

That team would have won 50+ games in the East.

Beal and some backups would dominate if they played a G League schedule.

or any other young team about to get good. These players insisting on marquee teams do themselves a disservice. PHX will either dominate or get blown up. And if it gets blown up he’s going to get passed around like pubic lice

that is surprisingly cheap depending on what comes out about the picks

Wizards just wanted to get out from under Beal's contract without having to replace it with other bad ones so this helps kick off a rebuild.

Oh they're still fricked come playoff time. They won't have the depth and will get crushed in the 2nd round.

Orlando front office isn’t taking on that albatross of a contract especially with the new CBA. Would have killed all the cap space they have created and they are building around Banchero.

I’ve wanted Beal gone for years. It was insanity that they gave him the contract last year and the no trade clause. The new front office is just getting from underneath this dead weight contract.

Not enough basketballs for that group but if I’m AD I ask to be traded there.
