ESPN switches up the No. 2 CFB crew. Sean McDonough replaces Joe Tess

I know some aren’t a fan of Sean, but I do enjoy his CFB games. I just think the chemistry wasn’t there with Gruden.
Also for my SAD compadre’s, Mark Jones and Rod Gilmore are no more

The ESPN college football announcing pairings have been released (weeks earlier than last year), and there are some significant moves happening with their lineup.
The biggest one is perhaps Sean McDonough returning to the “more fun” college game after leaving Monday Night Football; interestingly enough, he’ll be slotting right in to the role vacated by new MNF play-by-play voice Joe Tessitore, calling ESPN’s Saturday night game alongside Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe.
(The ABC Saturday night team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor remains intact.)

ESPN has also made a prominent play-by-play announcer swap of Adam Amin and Mark Jones, with Amin now working with Rod Gilmore and Quint Kessenich and Jones now working with Dusty Dvoracek and Molly McGrath.
But many of their other teams remain the same; Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay are in their third year together, as are Dave Pasch, Greg McElroy and Tom Luginbill, Bob Wischusen, Brock Huard and Allison Williams and Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht, and Rocky Boiman.

Why won't Sean go back to CBS?

Should have stuck with College Game Day. He's frickin trash in the booth.

Fowler is so bland for the CFB atmosphere

Oh hell no. Messing up Molly in this?
But Dusty and Marc has real possibilities. Can you imagine the looks Marc will get when he goes 90’s ghetto with Dusty?

Fowler may sound bland, but he is still one of the best. Does his homework extremely well.

Gilmore and Mark Jones were the perfectly atrocious pairing to go with a nice 2:30 am Central triple OT finish of a shite, rainy game in Corvallis that morphed into the best, most cluster fuk-filled, wacky 4th qtr and beyond game of the season.
It won't be the same without them. I genuinely hated the commentary, and loathed that arrogant, elitist arse Gilmore.... But dear lord did they fit SAD like a glove.

Yep. I don't need someone who talks louder or sounds like a fan. I like the play by play guy to be a smooth talker and well prepared. He does that well.

Perfectly stated.
That little "am I not turtle enough for the turtle club" looking dweeb loved pissing me off with his passive aggressive SEC hate.
But I loved it

McDonough is the best. Jason Benetti is one of the most underrated PxP guys

Well, at least with CFB he can’t smugly tell us which players went to Syracuse.

I always liked Sean when he did CFB. He just wasn’t a good fit for MNF.

I forgot Tessitore got the MNF job
McDonough always makes me feel like I'm watching a Iowa-Northwestern game.
