Is it possible that's why they're doing this? Stretch it out to disprove the narrative that you can't be playing playoff games late into January because think of the students.

Or they could just be milking a cash cow by promoting the game for 2 weeks.

B/c the NFL is too greedy to share a Saturday with it's free minor league system and the CFB powers that be are too chicken shite to challenge them. Oh and ESPN says frick you very much too.

Well, they can't have the semifinals on January 1st because the Rose and Sugar Bowls won't play nice (they mandate their games MUST be played on NYD). So, ESPN decided to put the semis on a Saturday (12/28)

The decision to put the NCG on a Friday is a bit strange

January 13th, 2020 is a Monday like all the NCGs

The article is retarded. It says Monday January 6th then Friday January 13th lol

Oh yes, I didn't forget the Rose and Sugar being total fricking scumbags when it comes to when their games are played. I just didn't want to deal with the jackass SEC SEC boot lickers who bow down to the Sugar and pretend they aren't at fault for being total dickheads in the situation. But... I guess I've changed my mind. Let the down votes commence.

It wasn't tradition for them to exclusively own two time slots on NYD. Try again boot licker!

The rose bowl, played consecutively since 1916, first in 1912, has been on January 1st all but 15 times when it was on January 2nd. This happens when the 1st falls on a Sunday.

The sugar bowl has for the vast majority of the time been played on January 1st.

It is most certainly tradition for these both to be on the 1st.

But it's NOT tradition for them to OWN the afternoon and prime time slots on that day which they required to join the playoff.

Again, they are the ones fricking up the playoff out of naked greed. It has nothing to do with tradition and that they have dickmatized you with such a load of BS is sad.

The very fact that they were willing to join the playoff shows they don't actually care about tradition. That stopped years ago once the Bowl Alliance and then BCS started.

Their greedy actions are what will eventually lead to the major bowls being completely cut the hell out of the playoff. They are fricking themselves long run b/c a bunch of old fat fricks who love the shite out of bowl graft can't wrap their heads around the reality that the old days are done.

Both the Rose and Sugar could even still play on Jan 1 if they took the earlier time slots in years they aren't playoff locations. They both were flat unwilling to do anything other than have the 5pm est and 8:45pm est time slots unopposed which shows they are motivated by little more than greed. They don't give two shits what's best for the growth of CFB and that is why they will eventually be dumped in the long run.
