The NFL will never end the Pro Bowl, because the same people who complain about the Pro Bowl watch the Pro Bowl.

ESPN announced it averaged eight million viewers on ESPN and ABC for Sunday’s game, based on fast nationals.

The audience for the game peaked from 5-5:30 p.m. ET with 8,931,000 viewers.

That's unbelievable.

People must have just put it on their TV because of football separation anxiety...and then went and did laundry.

I'd rather watch that old Football competition they had in Hawaii with all-star QBs...who can throw the football the farthest?

(btw, it was Randall Cunningham)

Boy the TV market is fractured. 8 mil out of 300 mil (well 250 mil adults) is significant?

For comparison:

Man I couldn’t tell you the last time I watched the pro bowl. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago?

Even if I wasn't boycotting the Superbowl I wouldn't be caught dead watching the Pro Bowl.

I didn’t but when I read about the shenanigans of players playing different positions I wished I had.

Didn't get to war it, but I was watching some of the skills challenge stuff on Saturday and just watching those guys, including a bunch of vets have fun out there....I thought "this probowl weekend is not going anywhere anytime soon"

TV guide estimates 35%-40% of that 250 million doesn't have cable TV.

Either poors who couldn't go digital or the growing mass of cord-cutters and streamers who pay for streaming sites. You can't watch the Pro Bowl on Netflix.

So divide by half and that's 10% of the paying cable TV population who actually watches Cable TV and pays for it - watching or having on the Pro Bowl.

That's a high rating for the fricking Pro Bowl.

People who bitch about theses always drive the ratings.

It reminds me of one my friends who used to have meltdowns about how much attention tiger woods gets. But sure enough he was following him every tourney hoping to see the fail.

Who tf watched the Pro Bowl. I was completely bored and decided in favor of being a good husband for once and knock out a few things on to do list.

The pro bowl is starting to be known for stuff like Kamara playing DE, stuff you only see there, which strangely makes for compelling tv since you're not watching it for your conference to win anyway

What’s that in comparison to other large American sporting events?
