Mike Mussina for example, was never the best pitcher in the league at all

While i don't think he should be in, I don't think that's the reason why. That's like saying Ewing isn't an all time great in basketball because he was never the best player in the league, he played with the best player of all time.

Well deserved. Shouldn’t have taken this long.

He played a position and teams would have found a fielding position for him if there wasn’t the DH.. I don’t mind him having to wait some but it shouldn’t have taken the full allotment

it's the fricking Hall of Fame. Not the Hall of "his stats aren't anything to knock"

I can remember when every 300-homer player was in the Hall of Fame.

Roy Sievers retired in 1965.

You're 75?

Depends on how you feel about PEDs and steroids.

Roy Sievers hit 300? Maybe I'm wrong, then.

And I'm 57.

He should have gotten in just because he let us see Griffey run from 1st to home in about 7 seconds.

I could have swore he was 3B and not a DH during the 1995 run.

I think a lot of people are upset that he got in and Mcgriff didn’t.

Fred McGriff absolutely should be in.

I'm torn

As a Braves fan I want him in but I think his candidacy is "too debatable." I wouldn't complain if he were elected though

He had a run in Toronto and then in San Diego in the late 80s/early 90s where he finished the following in MVP: 17, 6, 10, 10, 6, 4, 8, 20.

If you look at the years (88 and 90) where he finished 17 and 10 (the first time), it's clear that he got about the same respect in those seasons that he is getting for his career. I could argue that he should have been top 5 both seasons if you look at the numbers comparisons between him and the guys above him. In 1990, he had the misfortune of the AL having 3 dominant starters and 2 dominant closers who all got voted above him, which is absurd. That means he was putting up his ridiculous numbers (35 HRs, .300/.400/.530) in a league that had some really good pitching which should increase the value of his stats.

I think the absurd part of McGriff not getting in is that he (and probably Murphy as well) have the misfortunes of being disregarded due to not hitting the next "milestone" number of home runs.

If not for the strike, McGriff would have breezed past 500 homers. Every eligible player with 475 or more homers (not tainted by the steroid stink) is in the HoF.

I dont see where McGriff is a HOFer.

WAR-31
wRC+-38
wOBA-51
AVG-131
OBA-65
SLG-29
HR-11

.280/.383/.546, .391 wOBA, 135 wRC+, 44.2 WAR
.277/.399/.516, .394 wOBA, 140 wRC+, 49.8 WAR
.284/.377/.509, .383 wOBA, 134 wRC+, 56.9 WAR

One of those is Fred McGriff. The others are Carlos Delgado and Jason Giambi.
