Draft your simple steps to make College Football better as a whole
Posted by VermilionTiger on 12/16/20 at 8:59 am914
1. G5 schools are no longer in the same classification as Power Five schools. Let’s quit the biggest sham in sports. 90% of the teams that are in the “same classification” are eliminated before they take the field on opening weekend. What other sport immediately eliminated 90% of the field?
2. The G5 starts it’s own subdivision, with an 8 team playoff.
3. Lower scholarship numbers to 20. College Football is no longer a regional sport. West Coast talent is fleeing to the Big Ten and the SEC. Removing 5 scholarships from every P5 school will also inject more life into the G5
4. No more subsidized college football games. No more FCS opponents for P5 schools. You can’t force a P5 school to play a harder schedule, but you can force them to eliminate FCS scheduling.
P5 and G5 schools will still play, obviously.
What else do you have? Speak as a fan of the sport, not a fan of a team.

Eliminate Number 0
Only one player can wear a number on a team. No more of this B.S. of having 3 different players wear number 5 or 6. It worked for YEARS. If a player wants a single digit number that someone else already has, let him wait until the first kid graduates.

All P5 games.
playoffs to 8 teams.
G5 has its own playoffs

Agreed

Agreed (though I don't care how many teams they would have in a playoff)

Completely disagree. Why would you deny kids the opportunity to attend/play at a power conf. school simply to make the CFB equivalent of "Triple A baseball" better?

Just get rid of G5 scheduling all together. The power five schools will essentially be their own league. One that only plays each other. Do that and expand the playoffs to 6. Get rid of bowl games. They are meaningless exhibition games.

Adopt similar time rules to the NFL to speed up games.

1) Drop the political bullshite and ditch the idiot color commentators like Cryin’ Kirk.

Reduce scholarships is the number 1 way to make it better. At any time only allow 50 total scholarships per team and make it a 4 year binding commitment by team and player This will force more true student athletes participating and end the professional football minor league sham it currently is.

But you’re not
85 scholarship limit is still there
20 per class
Put a cap on transfer limits
25*4 = 100, 15 over the limit already
20*4 = 80
Allow additional transfer scholarships to fill the gap

Seperate P5 and G5, and use an agreed upon computer ranking system that is fully transparent as to how its compiled to rank all teams in each division. Use these rankings to establish playoff teams.
Change the ineligible man downfield rule to only allow linemen 1 yard past the LOS on a pass.

Require the P5 conferences to all play the same number of conference games and require one P5 OOC opponent per school. Eliminate FCS opponents for all P5 conferences. Honestly, I'd like to see a requirement of two P5 OOC opponents and only one G5.

Expand playoffs to 8
Any undefeated team that wins its conference championship game and plays AT LEAST 12 FBS Teams gets into the playoffs. (Unless there are more than 8 undefeated teams that meet this criteria)
Lower scholarships available from 85 to 80 so the 4 stars get spread more evenly

Completely eliminate FCS games. I'd prefer to have something like 11 out of 12 games being against another P5. Maybe establish some sort of scheduling agreements between the conferences to come up with OOC matchupss
In the long run P5 and G5 probably need to separate since it's apparent that the committee is never going to let a G5 school breakthrough into the playoffs. However, some current G5 members deserve inclusion in that new P5, or at the very least they are better programs than the weakest of the P5 schools.

like the nfl your non conference schedule consists of 4 games vs the other power 5 conferences vs the team that finished in your place the prior year
the teams in bigger conferences that dont have an opponent (14th in the big ten, but only 12 pac teams) you will play a top rated G5 team
no more games vs the citadel. we will have an actual playoff picture because we will know comparatively who is better. no more bureaucrats picking the rankings.

Targeting. If you want to keep it a 15 yard penalty, fine. But when it comes to ejections, can we at least try to establish if there was intent on hitting high?
I'm so sick of seeing defenders ejected when they initiate a hit, clearly aimed at the chest/shoulders, and the QB ducks or slides and gets popped in the head.

I would like to see a top 25 playoff.
Top 7 seeds receive first round byes, that leaves 18 teams with #8 playing # 25 etc.
Higher seed host game on campus. (7 byes,18 teams play)
(16 teams) Round 2 is also on campus with higher seed hosting.
8 teams incorporate bowl games thru the championship game.
Do away with conference championship games but allow them a bigger chunk of the playoff money pool to recoup lost revenue.
Begin the playoffs the first week in December.
This allows all of the group of 5 schools a seat at the table if they are in the top 25.

10 conference games and 2 p5 ooc games.
I'd say 8 team playoff. All 5 players winners and 3 best AL.
Fill tv timeouts at stadiums with broadcast of other games more frequently. If you're gonna be at the game for 4 hours at least fill the fans in with what else is going around the country.

1. The playoff drops any affiliation with BCS bowls.
2. Teams 5-12 make up the BCS bowl matchups.
3. End the conference auto bid stuff.
4. Media promotes and market the teams’ runs to stay in the playoff and BCS bowl game chases just as hard as they do just the playoff at the moment.
