Houston seems like a good team not only this year but previous years too.

UCF is the “national champions” but seriously they are a pretty good team.

USF is looking good. They were good last year too.

Tulsa almost beat Texas.

Cincinnati, Memphis and Navy are a few others that don’t seem horrible.

Should this conference get more national respect?

This is the appropriate amount of respect.

It’s one of the more entertaining confrances, a lot of screw ball match ups like the Memphis navy game so there is a lot of upsets

Nope.

Until they can show some sustained success they will remain a mid major. Appropriate considering it is pretty much the old Conference USA but without Southern Miss.

If college football had relegation like euro soccer leagues, all of the teams in the conference would be yo-yo clubs with the weaker teams from the Big 5 (like the Kansases, Iowas, mississippis, vandy, arizonas, Indiana teams (-ND), etc.

However, this doesn’t mean they deserve a permanent spot in a NY6 Bowl.

South Florida didn’t beat a single team with less than 7 losses last year

Super entertaining conference.

Their good teams would kick arse in the Big 12 and PAC and ACC before losing in the championship game.

The AAC isn’t a bad conference, but isn’t deep enough to get national respect. UCF was absolutely one of the best 4 teams last year but their shitty strength of schedule held them back.

The AAC's Sangarin power rating last year was the 4th or 5th best conference. Several high draft picks, 4-5 teams that appeared in the top 20 over the course of the season. If there was a power 6 they would be it.

I think this is closer to being accurate. We saw what UCF did to Auburn in a big bowl game. The AAC would do well against most Power 5 teams but they do not quite the same depth as the stronger SEC/Big 10 powerhouses.

Cincinnati is an interesting team this year. They are 2-0 with a win at UCLA already. Looking at their schedule, they could be 8-0 going into their final stretch with UCF, USF and Navy as potential "quality" wins. Should they succeed, they would then be in the AAC championship game. That would give them 4 "quality" wins at the end of the year, right when they need them to make the argument. Lets assume they pull it off and go undefeated, with all the talk about UCF last year, would the selection committee leave out an undefeated Cincinnati team? Take a look:

@UCLA W (1-0)
@Miami OH W (2-0)

AAMU...W (3-0)
Ohio U...W (4-0)
@UConn...W (5-0)
Tulane...W (6-0)
@Temple...W (7-0)
@SMU...W (8-0)
Navy...?
USF...?
@UCF...?
ECU...W

Houston (AAC Championship...?)

Cincinnati is a team to keep an eye on. Luke Fickell has this team on the rise. The question is, IF they can navigate that schedule, could Cincinnati be this years UCF?

i would advise everyone not to waste their time thinking about that with this year's cincinnati team

zero chance they go 13-0. zero

They should find a way to add Boise State and BYU. That would make them a more well-rounded league IMO.

Also, a home and home with most of these AACs wouldn’t be the end of the word to me. Their home game being in an NFL stadium of course because a handful of their home fields are played at NFL stadiums.

Would be very strong conference if Cincy and East Carolina hadn't fallen off from where they were 5 years ago.

I get it’s Tulsa, but what are almost wins against Texas worth these days?

they're the old Big East... there was a power 6 until the media changed things bc they couldn't stand to call Tulane a major college football team

they have definitely separated themselves from the other Non power conferences.

just off the top of my head in the last few years Houston has beat.

Arizona twice
Florida State
Oklahoma
Louisville twice

I know plenty of "Power 5" teams that would kill to have done any of that...
