Does anyone not think Pelinka is in way over his head?

He made a trade that heavily mortgaged his team's future for a 2 year window and just now seems to be realizing that it wasn't enough to add a 3rd max without making a lot more moves... did he not understand his own cap situation?

I get that it's LA and there will be some ring-chasing vets that will sign on for the minimum to fill out the roster, but Pelinka just comes off as having no idea what he is doing.

It's not like it's something NO would do for free regardless, so I tend to think Griffin simply wouldn't budge pre/post trade.

ETA - to answer your question, yes, I think he's in over his head vs someone like Griffin, I just don't believe he found out about the cap after the fact.

He always has a good backup career as Rob Lowe’s stunt double

Yo, these dudes act like Lebron has dropped to like top 25 or something. He's the best on the planet right now because durant is hurt.

It turns out that Lebron is a human being that ages.

In 2 years he likely won’t be near as good as his is now. Very solid probably, but not likely top 10

I'd take Kawhi and Giannis over Lebron right now.

Ok but yall get that we will have room for a max player when lebrons deal is up and will have a decent chance of finding a fine partner for a team during that free agency, right?

The thought is:

Lebron can only play elite for so long

AD can’t be THE guy

They have no more assets left to make trades

They haven’t really been killing it in free agency or team building or any sort of decision making

So, knowing all that, I can see why that thought exists. Not saying I 100% agree or disagree, but that’s the logic at work.

It took mortgaging a 7 year future to get AD.

Y’all had Paul George and Russell Westbrook in the bag when they were free agents.

Surely everyone will want to play there

Teams can’t win a championship with old and wise Lebron as their 2nd best player?
