The fan who was struck in the head by a foul ball this week during a Los Angeles Dodgers game reportedly suffered a concussion and says that she "can't see out of my right eye."

Kaitlyn Salazar spoke out about her injuries as the team announced Monday that it's studying how to improve the protective netting for future games at Dodger Stadium. A day earlier, Salazar was sitting four rows from the field along the first-base line -- just beyond the netting that extends to the end of the visiting dugout -- when she was hit by a foul ball off the bat of Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger.

“My head really hurt, to be honest. That was the only thing I could feel," she told KLTA, adding that "I can't see out of my right eye."

Her father, Carlos, said it was "very bad luck because we were just beyond the net." The station also reported she had suffered a concussion.

That’s sad if she can’t. Is there even a way to prove that she is lying? Bc if not that is EASY money for her lol

Ticket usually says the team isn't liable for foul balls, doesn't it?

Doesn't matter you can still sue and will probably win.

Probably, but with all these stadiums already extending their netting, I'm sure they could try the argument that it's negligent to not have already extended the netting.

Fan is responsible for what happens to them from foul balls. Team has zero liability

No sympathy for anyone who chooses their own seat and doesn’t pay attention to what’s happening in the game or is incapable of protecting themself from a foul ball. She’s gonna get paid, but frick her.

If true, it's sad, but isn't it on every ticket that they assume no liability for foul balls?

I mean if you get hit in the face by a baseball traveling at a high rate of speed, you might have vision loss. It's a plausible claim.

The next fan that gets hit by lightning going to cause domes for every stadium.

There’s like over 4,500 games per year in the regular season and this happens a handful of times. Pretty similar to lightning strikes.

Yes.

That is pretty simple. The eye will react to certain stimuli if it isn't blind. She can't control that.

Doesnt mean much. Those things are printed on tickets to try and prevent people from suing

This is a ridiculous comparison. Nets are cheap and easy. And this happens to people a few times a year at least.

You can barely see the net anyway when in those seats. You think people behind home plate give a shite the net is there? You forget it's there pretty quickly.

Also, you can pay attention like a hawk the whole time, but look down at your drink for one second and have this happen.

And what about little kids this happens to? Their fault too I guess?

Basically what happened to this girl. She got up to leave her seat and got hit by the foul ball as she was walking away. Outside of extending the net, there is no way this could have been prevented.

The only way to verify these claims is to put a patch over her good eye and then either fake a punch at her face or throw a basketball at her head. If she flinches she's lying.

Actually there is, keep your eye on the field. Walking up to a concession look over your shoulder at home plate. Taking a drink, take it between pitches. Netting extending is fine but people saying this stuff can’t happen, it’s a baseball game with the potential of a ball coming at you, keep you eye on the ball.

And then trip and cave your teeth in.

I'm quite amused by how many people still think the average American at a ballpark can handle or avoid every line drive simply by keeping an eye on the ball.
