Yeah I’ve read Thorne is happy with his Orioles job and not looking to move every time he gets brought up

You’re too young to remember Dan Kelly and that’s ok.

He's in his 70s now, so that makes sense. And I think he's fantastic doing baseball.

However, I remember after ESPN lost the NHL, Thorne was doing the Frozen Four, and he commented how great it felt to be calling hockey again. Maybe NBC could at least convince him to do a limited package of games.

I was considering this yesterday morning watching the pats and packers game.

We are going to age out a lot of these iconic announcers we grew up with and that's a sad thought.

The people I watched calling games as a kid on those cold winter mornings will be gone and replaced by new faces. This is a perfect example of that as Doc Emrick was Stanley Cup.

Agree. The ease at which he flowed through the last names of hockey players was amazing.

I only knew Gary Throne for NHL on ESPN. Don’t really watch much hockey anymore.

I think it’s been happening. I grew up on Madden and Summeral calling NFL on Fox. I suppose the rest of the NFL hasn’t changed much. I think Gumbel did the big CBS games when I was a kid.

I prefer my MLB with Bob Costas on NBC. Joe Buck sucks.

NBA has always been Marv Albert to me. What’s super weird is I remember watching some Spurs NBA Finals replays and it was Brad Nessler on the PBP.

MAJOR loss for the league. His voice is to hockey as Keith Jackson is to the Rose Bowl.

By one famous count during a broadcast of a 2014 Olympic men's semifinal between Canada and the United States, Emrick used 156 different words to describe the movement of the puck. When he was calling a game, the puck wasn't just passed. It was shuffleboarded and shovelled and soccered.

Awesome PBP commentator HBO Real Sports Segmrnt on Emerick

Doc called a game like no other the last 20 years

his passion of the game was felt through his voice. He always had me at the edge of my seat in the closing minutes of games especially in the playoffs...kind of made the impossible possible when calling those close games

he will be dearly missed, straight legend status
