Do people really think the Big Ten is morally superior?

On average, their schools are more.. highly regarded and have higher admissions standards than the SEC; however, you'd have to be pretty damn deluded to think that their big time programs don't go to the same lengths in recruiting and to keep athletes eligible as their SEC counterparts.

I think the biggest difference is that even the SEC schools without much FB history still care a lot about it and are willing to do what it takes to compete whereas i don't think Indiana, Illinois, etc. gaf

No. But ask a Michigan fan and they'll tell you differently.

Pompous Big Ten fans actually do. Not all but a large portion feel that way.

Probably academically superior as a collective conference but morally inferior.

I grew up in Illinois. One of the main reasons I decided to attend LSU was to get away from that arrogance.

Plus, Robert Anderson (Michigan) and Robert Strauss (OSU).

Champagne is a lovely oasis filled with cookie cutters in the middle of a cornfield. A place of pure excellence

ETA: I forgot, they spell it excellently too. Champaign

The arrogance is absolutely real. I’ve met some incredibly nice friends of friends from Minnesota, New York, Boston, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. All genuinely nice people for the most part but some of the least down to earth people who look down on anyone from the south.

Ohio is definitely the most hardcore "football" state in the region - factoring in NFL they are definitely up there nationally.

Just laugh and walk away

The Big 10 and its region are of decreasing significance to the country in nearly every category

It really starts at the high school level.

Every division in Ohio High School sports lives and breathes football (urban, suburbs, and rural), nearly every school.

That could derive from the deep pro and college ties to the game and filtered down, or it could have grown from the high schools up. But it's a perfect storm for football in this state.

I sense Louisiana is very similar.

I mean to be fair, we in the south definitely have an arrogance too.

Each side of the Mason-Dixon line thinks the other side is stupid and projects that in their own unique way.

Same with politics and everything else that has two sides.

ETA: But the Big Ten/North is taking a big L today and they are trying, and failing, to play it off.
