Do people realize that college football was around long before the NFL?

If you are going to run your mouth at least be accurate. If the NFL were to disappear tomorrow, we would still have college football. Would a few more guys play other sports? Sure. Would college football decline in popularity? Possible. But we had college football long before pro football and we will long after pro football. You know college athletics were originally meant for fun and a free ride(eventually) to get a good education.
Just recently has it become a stepping stone for pro sports

If there were no money at the end of the road, the stellar athletes would pick a different sport.

You actually think great players would still play football over basketball if they had no chance to make a large amount of money?

You would still have college football, but we would be back to guys that wouldn't be drafted by the NFL today. Any decent athlete would be playing a different sport.

As soon as top athletes starting playing other games CFB would become unwatchable.

Like I said some would. Not all would be capable of playing another sport. Quality of play might decline, but it wouldn't go away. It probably wouldn't be noticeable to the average idiot fan like most of y'all are.

Like What? There are only so many spots on a basketball roster? The black football players wouldn't play baseball and definitely not hockey.

Basketball.
Baseball.
Rugby.
Track.
Boxing.
MMA.
ETA: soccer, hockey.
Any sport that would eventually pay them for their services.

Perhaps.
What about all the soccer, volleyball, softball, ......... players?

Supply and demand people. My goodness y'all are dumb. You add another 5,000 players to basketball. They only have so many scholarships. The leftovers would have to decide if they wanted to go to college for free or stay in the hood. Maybe some top athletes play basketball over football, but it wouldn't be as dramatic as y'all are saying. It's literally impossible with basketball scholarship limits.

I know that you, and many of the ones you know in the tiny area of the woods which you've never left, wish things were still like they were back in the pre-civil rights era. But things today are vastly different, even if the changes haven't quite reached your area yet.

Those sports require years of practice. This would have to be a generational shift.

The actual effect is just that football scholarship would more end up going to more middle/upper class kids. It would be on the same level as Tennis or Soccer scholarship.... maybe even lower.
If there is NO professional football league, kids in the hood aren't going to play it. The end.

Take away the incentive for the great athletes and it wouldn't affect the sport.
Jesus Christ.
