Do kids still grow up learning about Babe’s called shot?
The anniversary of sandlot had me thinking about this. It feels like since he left the game of baseball, babe Ruth spent the rest of the century as THE iconic American Athlete. I grew up in the 90s and 2000s And still grew up knowing who babe Ruth was from an early age and learning about his legend. With constant media and talking head shows now, there’s always tons of arguments about all the different GOATs. Do kids growing up today even learn about him anymore in the same way kids of the 20th century did? Does he still hold a special place in the American lexicon or has he been pushed to the side just sitting with all the other greats and modern sports heroes?

Everyone remembers the day Babe won the National Grand Challenge Sheep Dog Trials. They wrote books and made movies about it.

I'd say so.

His sports memorabilia collectively is so significantly more valuable than any other sports memorabilia in the history of the hobby. With so much of it being mass produced, ballooning, and making it all but worthless and killing the industry, his gear still hasn't hit a ceiling

Like it’s taught in school or something? No.

My dad had a ball autographed by some lady named Baby Ruth. We played ball with it. Some big arse dog got the ball. We had a hell of a time getting it back.
