7/10 fastest 100m sprinters cheated, 1 more w/ allegations

Is he really faster than the next 6, who were cheating?

(Only ex-LSU tiger-Richard Thompson- was "clean"

His actual numbers are dirty but had everyone been clean he would still be at the top of the order. The same is true for Armstrong at least in terms of the TdF.

I'm pretty convinced he did. I should have know Lance was doping when he was beating the other cyclists who were cheating.
I just didnt know if it was universally accepted that Bolt doped.

Probably. But how many in the field were also doping?

I don't know. It's such a dirty sport though.

I feel that Calvin Smith was the last " natural" male sprinter. The guy was 5'10 & 155 lbs( soaking wet) & ran a 9.92 in 1983.

When you watch his races he is just a huge human with very long powerful legs. I say he may have doped because the Jamaican team history but he would have won either way.

Who really knows. Obviously Lance was a one day rider before cancer and he had the best doc in the business in Ferrari on an exclusive contract among contenders and the UCI in his back pocket. So even in doping he had an advantage.

And who knows when Bolt started doping. Maybe he set the junior records clean, but maybe not. Doping at 15-16 is not unheard of. The communist bloc countries used to do it. There was a Canadian female cyclist whose coach started doping her around that age and she was beating dudes in regional races in her very late teens. I knew dudes who took steroids as juniors and seniors in HS. Plus him being so tall may have been a hindrance clean. Like Indurain getting over the mountains.

I agree with Obtuse1

He was on steroids and is also the fastest person of all time.

Maybe I’m naive, but I think Erryion Knighton, Michael Norman, Rai Benjamin, and Noah Lyles are clean.

I would be skeptical about the other big names (extremely skeptical about Coleman and Jacobs) and I’m not even going to insult anyone’s intelligence and suggest guys who were caught and then ran faster times were ever clean (Gatlin, Blake, Powell).

Tyson Gay was popped and his speed came back down. I suppose he was actually clean for the end of his career, when he wasn’t particularly good.

Track is pretty dirty. I'll bet this was a case of doping, too.

Agreed. Which begs the question: "Is it really a 'competitive advantage' if everyone of the competitors have that same advantage?" The only thing in tarnishes are the record books because it breeds "unnatural" results.

Barry Bonds doesn't set the HR record without PEDs. But did he have a tremendous competitive advantage over the rest of the league were PED's were the norm, not the exception? He was still the best slugger among his performancely enhanced peers

I think he certainly had an advantage over the guys who weren’t using. Bonds is an amazing talent but he also didn’t have injury concerns that guys like Ken Griffey Jr had in the latter half of their careers.

Of course the main stars of that era like McGwire, Sosa, and A Rod were taking PEDs along with lesser players like Ken Caminiti, Brady Anderson, Andres Galaraga, etc but some guys were clean.

Eta: Bonds is one of the best of all time and would make my all-time team. I would also vote for him (and Clemens and ARod) in Cooperstown

Yohan Blake's suspension was for a mild stimulant somewhat like ephedrine called Methylhexanamine which wasn't on the WADCO banned list at the time he tested positive. He only received a 3 month suspension so it wasn't a serious infraction.

He probably did and everyone he competed against probably did too. So many of those Olympic sports are dirty at the highest level. It is what it is at this point.

Bryan Fogel (director of Icarus doc on Russian doping scandal) has said on Joe Rogan’s pod that WADA basically admitted they can’t keep up with modern day doping.

Which is why they keep samples around for at least a decade.
