Did Steve Nash benefit from white privilege?

“We want to create an organization for change,” said DePaul coach Dave Leitao, who is on the executive committee. “The situation is really longstanding and simple and in this case coaches, Black coaches, disproportionately are given jobs that don’t have the opportunity to succeed like white coaches are. The research will prove that out.”
The frustration is understandable. Not just in the raw coaching numbers for a league where the vast majority of players are Black but in the idea that Nash, much like Steve Kerr with Golden State in 2014, is able to walk into a great situation with zero coaching experience at any level.
That doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision. Obviously, Kerr’s work with Golden State stands on its own and maybe Nash’s will too.

Fun Fact: Steve Nash is the first African born NBA head coach in history.

he benefited from being best buds with KD and having a strong reputation for knowledge of the game

Not applicable here. He was hired because the teams two stars Kd and kyrie both wanted him to be their coach.

Possibly. But, I have to say the bigger privilege in NBA hiring is related to hiring former point guards over guys who played other positions. Pat Ewing, I believe, was an NBA assistant for over 10 years and didn't get a head coaching opportunity. That's not right.
But, I have to think if Nash is cool with Kyrie and KD that's why he got the job. And, I have to think his relationship with those two won't last because of Kyrie and KD's personalities.

To try and apply this argument to Steve Nash and the Nets is the dumbest fricking thing I’ve ever heard. This is the same organization that hired a recently retired and black Jason Kidd.

I'm not sure why some want to ignore that the reason Nash got the gig is b/c Durant and Kyrie wanted him and GM Sean Marks went along with it b/c he played with Nash in Phoenix.
Nash is also far from the only person to become a HC w/o any previous NBA coaching experience.
Off the top of my head Jason Kidd, Steve Kerr, Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird, Derek Fisher, Kevin McHale, Doc Rivers, Magic Johnson, and Quinn Buckner all made the same leap. I'm sure there are more.

Jason Kidd is biracial. He's not Black.

Did Lue, Kidd, and Rivers?

Doc Rivers’ first coaching job anywhere was head coach of the Orlando Magic.
Race has nothing to do with this. This race stuff is so tiring.

Guess his white half got him the job.

I'm just saying. Genetics is a crap shoot and no one has any control over how they look. But, Jason Kidd isn't a Black man.

When will this shite stop

Meanwhile, you’ve got David Fizdale getting fired after 104 games with the Knicks in a clear rebuild situation, Ty Lue getting fired after winning a championship in Cleveland and not immediately getting another look and Alvin Gentry somewhat surprisingly getting fired in New Orleans just recently after a fairly nightmarish year of injuries.
