It makes you wonder if they’ll have the balls to jump from the Big Ten back to their original home.

It would cost them 2 years of distributions to buyout of their contract according to their bylaws

see section 3
LINK

I believe their yearly distributions are around $50MM, so double that to $100MM to buyout of membership. Don't think Nebraska is going to pony up that much cash to save their 2020 season.

What does it say about the B1G not allowing them to play?

I could see Nebraska and Colorado, at least, returning to the group.

Colorado is very much with their ilk in the PAC-12. They aren't going anywhere.

I can definitely see Nebraska and a Mountain West member that makes a good fit to the Big 12.

Who is paying that 50 million this year? The check from Fox won’t be coming in.

If the Big 12 could get back Nebraska and another major state school (Colorado, Arkansas, Iowa) wed have ourselves a nice league again.

North

Iowa
Iowa State
WVU
Nebraska
Kansas
Kansas State

South
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas
Baylor
TCU
Tech

Not a bad looking league Iowa would be a natural fit with their in state rivals.

Nebraska, WV, KState are all down and would need to get good again. Iowa is solid as always.

No worse than than the current BIG10 West or the Pac

Here's a more comprehensive link to their bylaws with things like that included.

LINK

Rule 10.05 says schedules in all conference sports shall be approved by the conference office

Which begs the question does that mean conference games or sports in which the conference sponsors. Broad language like that is possibly what Day meant when he said they were exploring options to try to play this fall, as in maybe they can try to schedule a bunch of OOC games without the Big 10's help.

From my cursory glance, their bylaws are completely silent on the conference cancelling games or a season. There's stuff about how to handle rescheduling of games that need to be postponed or teams wanting to cancel a game for some unforeseen circumstance but nothing about the conference initiating games being cancelled.

The language in the bylaw talks about whatever their membership contracts say their distributions will be the next two seasons. Not certain how that would be interpreted if their contracts with the networks are modified for the 2020-21 sports season, which hasn't happened yet to my knowledge. I think it goes without saying we're in some uncharted waters here.

Dude that is absolutely horrific

Kansas, KSU, and Iowa St are going to struggle just to have a winning season every year(Iowa St is buying time with Campbell)

WVU
Iowa
Nebraska

Will take turn breaking into the top 25 every other year or so

Same as Maryland, the TV money. Both schools may have an anomalous football season every now and then, but it's money.
