re: Deion Sanders will fail tremendously at Colorado

I doubt teams are giving practice film to other teams. Even if you change your playbook completely you are giving a team a scouting report on your kids.
I can’t see BK sending over tape to coaches. The deserved part is weak as frick as well but the kid did play on a 1-11 team.

All of this movement is not working like that proverbial Swiss watch. Too many good players are saying goodbye and Sanders can't seem to stem the tide. He might want to not address every player in the room about leaving next time. Apparently, Sanders's ego made it into the room 10 minutes before good sense could catch up.
The magic portal is a 2-way street and Deion is getting a lesson on options.

Not just that but can't imagine the staff that was fired would like the new coach giving up their practice material.

Brian Kelly and Nick Saban aren't doing this either -- maybe some analysts or someone on their staff is but it would actually be stupid for the HC of a major college program to be doing this - shame on your ignorance (and most likely racism)

how do you fail tremendously at a school that was 1-11 last year?
I don't see a way he fails

I definitely don't want Deion to fail, I really don't care either way, but no matter how you slice it, losing 50 players to the portal indicates that whatever he is doing ain't working, and players aren't buying in and straight up jumping ship before the ship has even left port.

Even if what he is doing is trying to get rid of them? You see the dudes saying they were basically told to leave. If he has a mass exodus next offseason from guys he wanted to build around then he has a big problem but this year it was very clearly the plan.

Yeah I just read the quotes from that article. Idk i mean when has a coach trying to do a big rebuild kicked half of the team off? Maybe something similar has happened idk.

No coach been this open about it. But Colorado is probably as low on talent as any P5 team has been during the portal era so it probably wouldn't have been a good idea most places either. If he kept a bunch of bad players the team is going to suck which isn't much different than if he shreds the roster depth and they suck.

That's true, even though some of the players that hit the portal seem like talented players. Talented enough to be able to contribute to the rebuild at least. And him not telling these players directly that they are getting cut is lame IMO.

I guess Deion gets a pass for being fake such as wearing a cowboy hat unlike how they treated CBK.

I don’t recall it happening in this number but this is a new era with the portal, the one time transfers and all that.
I agree 50 is high but doesn’t seem like many were guys he wanted around.

I think this is a good point. I think Deion has lost players he didn’t want to lose. Didn’t the leading WR from the spring game bolt afterwards? Can’t imagine he wanted that to happen.
I can certainly understand trying to massively overhaul the roster of a 1-11 team, but you also have to have bodies in place for the 2023 season.
I think I heard the portal closes on 4/30. Is that true? And if so, is it closed until after the season? If that’s the case, Deion might be in deep shite.

Name has to be in portal by 4/30, I do t think you have to pick a destination until later

How do you know this ?

There's an Athletic article saying a lot of these players t answering were told to leave, and that anyone from last year's team were ignored in favor of new incoming players. He's cleaning house for sure, but it's a bit baby-with-the-bath-water and I'm not sure this is how you want to approach it. He's even telling legacy players to frick off.

Portal entry it is now to be within 2 weeks of the end of their schools Spring Practices.

One of the claims by former players, is that others were allowed to show videos of them practicing, playing. But they refused to allow him to do the same?
Any definitive answer on this comment?

There's no pretense anymore that these are student-athletes. While the best players are looking to get paid, there are plenty of scholarship-level players who go to a school with the intention of completing their eligibility in one place. But with NIL and the possibility of being classified as employees, they are now all just commodities.
