I have friends on Facebook (mostly bandwagon Bama fans) that are posting the pics and videos of ............."Bama Orange Bowl Champs!"

so if you win the fiesta bowl, you can be fiesta bowl champs? but if you win a better and more important bowl game, you're not allowed to celebrate that?

The Orange Bowl means nothing............it was a playoff game.

Eh, it means at least as much as any other non national championship bowl game that teams get trophies for.
This is not something I really have a problem with under the current framework. I suppose the old bowls want to keep their continuity of having a "champion" every year.

Well, normally one claims the SEC title after a NC loss. But Gumps told us in 2011 and 2017 that winning the SEC is meaningless. Thus they can't backtrack now. So they need to cling to something, so we have Orange Bowl champs.

In 2017 we lost the national title but you're out of your mind if you don't think we celebrate the shite out of that rose bowl win. One of the biggest and best games UGA football has ever played, I'll be damned if it's tossed aside as an afterthought simply because we lost the next game.

As long as the bowl game is just a stepping stone in the race to the Championship, then you're not really champs of said Bowl game.
I mean, I guess you could say...we are Champs of the East lower region of the Elite 8 - in March Madness.
