De La Salle hires new football coach

Ryan Manale left last week to coach at the cursed institution on Banks Street... which I guess the chance to coach in the Catholic League is a promotion.
Manale was the OC at Rummel when DLS hired him, so I guess they are trying to go back to that well.

De La Salle turned to one of its own to find the next head football coach.
Graham Jarrott, a 1998 De La Salle graduate and 2017 inductee to its school hall of fame, was announced Thursday as the next head coach for a school that ended the last two seasons as a state runner-up.
Jarrott, 41, previously coached as an offensive coordinator at Rummel and at Jesuit. He helped both schools win Division I state championships — Rummel in 2019 and Jesuit in 2014.

More money. Jesuit isn’t under the thumb of the Archdiocese like the other schools who have a max they can pay coaches. Jesuit has a booster club like TAF that can supplement pay.
Rummel is now left without an in-house successor.

I doubt they’ll have a problem filling the spot...
They had no problem filling the spot when Manale left...

Joe Chango who was previously the Country Day Head coach and the OC at Jesuit when they won state is on Rummels staff currently.

Manale's dream job is Rummel. He and Roth had a falling out when Manale left to go to de la salle. I still think they are at odds. Manale will need to mend fences with Roth to go back to Rummel or Roth will have to retire.

They were phenomenal in the mid to late 90’s. I think they won like 136 games in a row.

All the years they were in the Catholic League, I’m not sure our De La Salle even had 136 victories until Manale went there

Rummel’s got a good one in Nick Monica.

Agree, Monica will be there as long as he wants. 10 yrs ago tho Manale was the successor to Roth and Monica was gonna be the baseball coach.

You act like these guys are getting paid millions of dollars. Jesuit, along with most other private schools, doesn't need donor funding to pay for a head coaches/teacher salary.

I never heard of this new coach, but everything I have read about him has me optimistic. The cupboard is not bare. This is not a rebuilding job. I am hoping for good things in the next year or two.

I Could see Monica at Rummel for 20 years or more, just like Frank was at SCC.

that’s the one in Cali...
Yeah they made a movie about it with Jim Caviezel...and that finally losing a game shook the town to its core.
And it was 151 games in a row against some national powerhouses every year.
Basically a 12 year unbeaten streak. During the winning streak, De La Salle was named national champion in seven different years; once by ESPN (1994), five times by USA Today (1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003), and once by the National Sports News Service (1999). They have been in 25 Cal State Championship games at the highest division and won 23.

I heard Jarrot interviewed this morning on the Trahan/Daniels show. I was not familiar with him until this week, but he sounded very sharp, and he inherits a loaded roster. I am optimistic. Bring on STM or U-High again. Then bring on the Catholic League.

Coach Jarrott is great. Taught me when I was at Brother Martin. Think he was just an OL coach then
Glad to see he’s back home
