McTaggart:

Some tibdits from Espada's media session:
- Altuve not made a decision about WBC participation.
- He wants to avoid using Hader/Abreu for 4 outs early in season.
- Alvarez will DH most of the season for health purposes.
- Altuve's defensive future uncertain.

In the parlance of our times, I’d say this squad is “cooked”.

Great promoting from within!

Why anyone from the training staff was allowed to keep their job is beyond me, much less receive a promotion.

I will throw a fricking fit if Dana trades Esock

The Red Sox have expressed interest in trading for Isaac Paredes, per @Ken_Rosenthal

Houston is seeking controllable starting pitching in return, with interest in Payton Tolle or Connelly Early.

IF the Red Sox come off Early I think you really listen on the deal.

High level arm, going into age 24 season, with control through 2032 and you'd save $9m this year on Paredes salary. That's a decent chunk where you could hopefully find some replacement of his production from an outfield position.

Seemingly the only sure thing this winter is they will move off Jake and probably sign a couple more bargain arms.

Yeah, you hate to see it, but the present state of this organization demands that all options should be on the table.

No one can tell me that Framber could not have commanded at least a #5 level SP from a playoff contender, which might give you some hope that you could keep some assets for a half arse run this year.

Instead, we'll sign JV, move Pena and Paredes and put Adam Everett at SS, hoping to play .500 ball. Walker penciled in for 150 games at 1B

I understand the logic but watching the only disciplined hitter in the lineup go would be tough.

100% agreed, I'd love a full season of Yordan, Isaac, and Carlos battling and grinding down pitchers.

But, an arm like that with control would make me think on it at least. You'd have to be blown away to move off Paredes IMHO.

Exactly.

Off days, matchups, and the ever lasting need to ‘keep guys fresh’ dictate that those three guys will play no more than 44 games together.

What a shitshow.

Saw Sleepy Joe projecting Altuve at 2B and as mentioned earlier Yed at DH.

So if they move Jake, are we looking at an OF of Sanchez, Cole and Smith? Dear God.

ETA…ZDZ and Melton in the mix too.

This prospect is right up there with when Costanza had the deal on the table to get Griffey and Bonds in the same OF.
