Ausmus interviewing today. I've been surprised that his name hasn't popped up yet.

All these interviews... deep down, I think Crane will choose Dusty, if nothing more, for the optics.

This team is screwed this season.

From reading Manfried's report, it appears that not all players were on board with the cheating. Granted, they *should* have stopped it... but I know how things work in real life, and sometimes it's just easier to go along to get along.

But this season, I can see a rift developing between the players that participated and the players that did not participate.

The only hitters left from 2017 are

Altuve
Bregman
Correa
Springer
Yuli
Reddick

And theres video evidence of the trashcan banging during ABs for all of those guys.

Verlander?
LMJ? (although, he seems to be on the frick-all-y'all-MFers-We-Won-the-WorldF'ingSeries train).

(admittedly, I forgot Marisnick got traded, and I truly wanted Springer to be the guy who didn't participate).

Media: Astros players need to apologize! They need to apologize!

Keuchel: Sorry

Media:

quote:

@Joelsherman1

Appreciate the apology but...

It'll never be enough to assuage the media mob that needs to fan outrage to generate clicks. They're never gonna let it go. Crane should have told them to get bent instead of offering a group apology session.

Yup. Short of burning the banner on live TV and seizing millions from each players bank account nothing will be enough.

Astros have a damn fine offense but they have holes at catcher and in the OF with Reddick. If Gurriel drops back in his age 35/36 that creates another hole and Correa is one of the best SS in the game if healthy, and that is the key.

The Astros had Cole and Miley last year who pitched fantastic and while McCullers may be good he won't be Cole good, asking him to be Miley or a bit better is the best hope but Cole is a huge hole. Having Greinke all year will help and hoping Verlander repeats his season. They still have a whole in the back of the rotation in the 4/5 spots.

Tucker + those young pitchers offer promise as you said but you're asking them to fill big holes. I think Urquidy will pitch well (3.50-4.00 ERA) but still asking to step in place of a guy who was near All-Star. So far Tucker hadn't stepped up but like you said Yordan being with the team all year will be huge. Dude is going to hit 50+ home runs.

Not trying to be a smart arse to you. I appreciate your baseball talk.

Everything is spot on, and nothing every Astros fan doesn’t already know, if they are being honest.

I’m hoping Altuve gets back to his way of form of getting hits. I think the whole cheating thing and his uptick in power is not a coincidence. That said, by all official accounts, they didn’t cheat last year and he still had decent power numbers.

As for Correa and Reddick... they will both be gone in July.

Never mentioned cheating and I've stayed away from it for the most part.... Correa will not be gone, his talent is too much and no one is touching Reddick unless Astros pay for them to take him.

Nah, bumping the threads had more to do with reaction of certain posters who acted high and mighty. However, feel free to believe what you want since I've made myself clear on cheating allegations several times

Just a coincidence, I’m sure

A GM for 24 years? Just what we need with the paradigm shift the game is going through.

Crane’s fwd thinking has led to a frontal lobe protuberance akin to Cro-Magnon proportions

Yeah, you’re all good with me.

I truly think you realize how little difference any of this shite made in actual outcomes.

If anything, the Yankees numbers are more suspect.

Seriously.

Home vs away numbers not better for Yankees?

I could be wrong

There are videos and pics of the Yankees dugout passing around photos that were zoomed in to show opposing catcher giving signs during Yankee ABs

In and of itself, not a big deal to me, but their behavior trying to conceal what was being passed around was guilty as Hell

Beltran was known to be the Godfather of sign stealing. He spent more time in NY than Houston the past 5 seasons.

Cora spent as much time winning championships in Boston as he did in Houston.

I bet home vs away in Boston would be more incriminating than Houston also.

Much ado about nothing when looking at outcomes, IMO

Astros were obviously not very good at it, which may even mean better results going forward

He wasn’t a GM for 24 years. He worked for the Giants for 24 years. He was only their GM from 2014-2018 and was fired because he was a horrible GM.

And the Giants also stated they would be looking for a “next-gen” GM, after they fired Evans.

I hope it’s just due diligence on the Astros’ part, because it appears that guy sucks.
