Keep melting baw, but the truth is this : the Astros as they stand now are out of the playoffs with the current 25 man. The time for panicking is over. Moves will be made. Contracts signed, feelings hurt. Paradigms challenged and lies exposed. At the end of the day we have a team that will play baseball this season.

Letting Morton sign elsewhere can only mean we are in on some good arms long term, IMO.

Bum, Kluber, maybe even Bauer, which would be fun.

I’m not so sure about that.

Altuve coming off knee surgery, Correa needling back surgery, verlanders arm is about to fall off, springers thumb is hanging by a small fiber of a tendon. We may very well be suiting up the Fresno grizzlies come opening day.

We will finally see if ludlow can win with his own guys rather than riding ed wades coat tails

Free agent starter Charlie Morton and the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to a two-year, $30 million deal, sources told Yahoo Sports.

He wants to be closer to Delaware, and has 6 clubs within a 2 hour radius, and signs with Tampa? That kind of BS tells me Morton, or his wife, just wanted out of Houston.

Doesnt matter, said he was retiring after the contract run, so Tampa can have his 4 inning outings.

I don’t mind Morton going to Tampa. Dude made $40 million in his career through last season. He almost doubled that with a signature.

Good for him, he deserves every penny

The Astros are mulling adding two hitters and are “open” to trading outfielder Josh Reddick, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports (subscription required). However, the likelihood is that the Astros will only acquire one hitter, per Rosenthal, who adds that they haven’t had much luck trying to move Reddick this offseason. Not only is the 33-year-old Reddick coming off an unspectacular season in which he hit .242/.318/.400 (99 wRC+) with 1.1 fWAR in 487 plate appearances, but he’s due $26MM through 2020.

My guess of the 25 man if the season started today...

Rotation:
1 - Verlander R
2 - Cole R
3 - McHugh R
4 - James R
5 - Valdez L

Relievers:
Short relief - Harris, Devenski, Pressly, Smith
Long relief - Peacock
Set-up - Rondon
Closer - Osuna

Lineup:
1B - Gurriel
2B - Altuve
SS - Correa
3B - Bregman
LF - Tucker
CF - Springer
RF - Reddick
C - Chirinos
DH - White

Bench:
Diaz - U
Stassi - C
Davis - IF
Marisnick - OF

I guess Diaz/Marisnick could start ahead of Tucker in the OF on opening day, and who knows about Valdez being in the starting rotation?

We really need to add a SP and a bat.

Thoughts?

Every other contender is getting better. Some MUCH better.

I’m patiently waiting for the big move, FO.

that roster is good enough to win the west fairly comfortably IMO. Gives us plenty of time to wait to see what happens with Whitley in the beginning of 2019 and/or trade for a starter
