I agree that he should opt out and take his chances.

I'd still put him on my top 5 realistic 1B targets.

Rizzo
Abreu
Belt
Mancini
Yuli (unless he retires)

Assuming Bell is too expensive (Rizzo too most likely) and Miguel Sano just doesn't fit the Astros mold with a 36.5% career K rate.

After that it's either trade or let the rookies have a shot at it.

ETA: Brandon Drury is also an interesting target, he can play anywhere including 1B and LF and he should be well suited to MMP dimensions.

Spend/trade for OF bat

Address 1B with prospects. Trade for one at the deadline if nobody steps up

What 1B will be on last year of a deal that could get traded at the deadline?

Hoskins if the Phillies aren't in it again.
CJ Cron in COL.

Christian Walker and Hunter Dozier are 2025 FAs and should be included as well.

Click said yesterday Yordan is trending toward being the everyday LF. Don't love that.

Don't really love that either, but he's still young and his knees seem to be back to health.

After watching the Yordong for then 8,000th time I have to say the Joe Davis call was better than anything Joe buck ever did for a big moment. Iconic call. This is game is turned UPSIDE Down!

Then of course Smoltz deadpans immediately after.

I heard a radio interview with Smoltz Fri morning and he covered the Phillies throughout the playoffs

More than once when referring to the Phillies he said “we”

That’s not a shock to anyone who listened to the WS broadcast, but he’ll never be confused with some of the respected greats in his profession now

I wonder if Davis didn’t save what could have been a screw-up. A part of me thinks he forgot there were two on and was thinking it was a solo HR and was gonna say “This game is tied.” It was an odd line and yet it fit. If it was a save, it was a good one.

I mean, he plays baseball… he’s not an NFL running back or an NBA player. How much can standing around and catching lazy fly balls and occasionally running to catch a ball really affect his knees?

He’s an athlete.. he’s gotta run sometimes.

I love it. Yordong can throw dudes out at the plate from the 3rd row of the Crawford Boxes.

Yeah, the real stress on his knees occurs on the basepaths
