DAT: Astros (peacock) v. White Sox (TBD) 7pm
Yordan Alvarez has a wRC+ of 224. Most dominant PCL season of all time.

Any roster moves, or are we going to play with a one man bench?

@jakemkaplan
George Springer (back tightness) won’t play tonight but said he got an MRI today and received “good news.” He described his status as “day to day.”

Not good news at all if it was serious enough to get a MRI.

Pretty dumb to go into a game with 1 available position player on your bench... even more dumb when that player is a catcher. Lord help them if another player gets hurt tonight. Might see Stassi playing 1B.

The scan was negative. Now they'll baby him to the point of near death before returning him to the lineup.

Springer and Diaz are unavailable tonight so Stassi is the only guy on the bench. If somebody gets injured, Stassi has to play 1st and we play musical chairs to fill the vacancy.

More arrogance. Send a pitcher down and call up a player.

Couldn't stassi go to DH,white to first, and then Yuli wherever the injury happened?

Edit: Nevermind. Forgot you lose the DH if you send him to a position.

If your DH enters the field to play a position, you sacrifice the DH and the pitcher has to bat.

Limitless. I’d love to see it bite the LLC in the arse just one time.

We had ourselves a winning streak. Now we are going to rest ourselves into a 5-game losing streak.

Love Springer...soul of the team, but he does so much dumb shite and gets himself injured. If you’re going all out and it’s what’s required and you end up injured, so be it. Part of the game. But a lot of what he does isn’t necessary. When he hits the ball, it isn’t typically that Carlos Gomez swing. Apparently was already sore and continued to do that shite yesterday. On the inside the parker the other night he slid for no reason at all. Bregman was waving for him to stand up. Last year he hurt his thumb laying out for a ball that he couldn’t have caught with a crab net. Play hard but be smart for God’s sake.

Well, it has already cost them wins. What remains to be seen is if those wins will make a difference in home field

The playoffs are a dead lock cinch, so I understand being cautious, but their attitude is much more cavalier, audacious even.

I find myself conflicted as a fan, esp the more we know about the relationship of owners, management, and the players. I understand it could be in the team’s best interests to not put the best roster together, and also even keep some players from putting up numbers not necessary (garbage time, lesser opponents, wins above those necessary to reach postseason).

I want to play to win, and the Astros make it so painfully obvious that this is a business that it affects me to my baseball core. I do agree, part of me wants to see it bite them in the ass, but how does that help me as a fan. Also, if I understand that some short term setbacks could pay dividends long term, shouldn’t that be what I want to see?

I’m so confused. LOL. And for someone like me that has always been somewhat attracted to mild arrogance, it’s even more so confusing.

Hinch just said Altuve should be ready for a rehab assignment by the weekend. Springer should only miss a day or two. Diaz is actually available in an emergency at least for tonight but likely back in the lineup tomorrow.
