No need to bury them. Just tell them, "Thanks for the push, and we'll see you in the ALCS, Friends."

I've really been thinking about how real this possibility is.

I'm not expecting any more push from the A's. Yesterday pretty much had to make up their minds.

No reason to keep burning their bullpen arms chasing home field for one playoff game, when they won't get home field after that anyway.

For a moneyball organization, I expect the smart play here and I think we'll see them just position themselves preparing for that one game in NY.

They're only 1.5 GB of the wild card home field... I would think that's still worth playing for.

Well, essentially 2.5 GB because the Yankees have the tiebreaker, but still worth playing for, especially since the Yankees still have two series with Boston.

Disagree. They can still Win the division. Do you really trust the Astros to not get swept at home by the Mariners?

Their ace is Mike Fiers

They have no starting pitching.

I just don't think chasing home field for 1 game is worth putting that much stress on the arms you're going to need when it counts.

If that one game was the WS, then yes, but do you burn your pen in an attempt to get home field, maybe still not get it, then even if you're fortunate enough to beat the Yankees with Johnny Wholestaff, where do you stand going forward?

I get my arms lined up and well rested for that one game, so I can try to make a run. JMO.

I have to be realistic here. Not even my level of pessimism can see the Astros losing the division at this point. Yesterday was the clincher.

Yep. There were 8 1-run games yesterday. The MLB season is heating up.

I slipped Leblanc's father in law a $20 today to tell Wade to throw the game.

Man, LSU can get the ball with 5 minutes left in a game trailing by 2, and matriculate the ball down the field on the road vs a top 5 defense, and not only take the lead, but leave no time on the clock for a victory.

Trust me. The Astros can finish the next 13 games ahead of the A's with a 4.5 game lead.

I haven’t come to grips with the fact that LSU can win a game like that
