If the Astros could run the bases as fundamentally well as most high school teams, they would have the best record in baseball.

Will we ever win another game? I'm not too sure that we will.

Pretty good piece of Yordan: Elite Hitter
You’re Probably Underrating Yordan Alvarez

Though Alvarez doesn’t have the full-season batting line or defensive value to have historically great counting numbers, his expected stats don’t exactly tell a story of regression. He has the sixth-highest xwOBA in baseball, the fifth-highest xSLG, and even the 21st-highest xBA. He’s eighth in barrels per batted ball, fifth in barrels per plate appearance, and has the eighth-highest maximum exit velocity in baseball despite not having a full season of plate appearances. There’s no number that doesn’t support his status as an elite hitter.

If this team sees the A's in the playoffs, then better luck next season.

I mean we pretty much dominated Boston late in the regular season last year. A lot of good that did us

I know.
It's all really a crapshoot in October, they just seem to have our number.

The playoffs are certainly different but it is hard to get a good feeling after the A's won these last 3 games. The Astros either have no pitching or they get decent pitching and cannot hit. It has not been fun to lose these last 3.

Someone crunch the numbers and tell me what needs to happen for us to see the Mariners in the playoffs. I like it when we play them.

I think I just divided by zero.

It was a disappointing showing against the As on multiple fronts. Considering we lost 3 of 4 in the last series I expected a little added focus and motivation but after that first game there was nothing, no fight, pretty much as expected from a hinch managed team.
Miley practically snuffed out our momentum with a second consecutive horrendous start. Altuve ruined scoring chances in back to back games with moronic base running, which continues to be encouraged, or at the very least, not discouraged. Josh James picks the wrong game to go into box of chocolates mode. And then, with Justin Verlander on the mound and needing a split, Hinch turns the lineup card in and falls asleep, as his hitters get screwed left and right with 6-inch off the plate strikes, while his top 4 lineup guys fail over and over to take advantage of two men on and no out situations. God forbid after the third such failed situation he try and bunt runners over needing a run in the ninth.
I still think we win the division. But I don’t think we get HFA. I hope correa and Pressly make it back and play to their potential. I hope we can turn it on when it counts but if we couldn’t in this series and we were trying to then this team will be in trouble come October.

Hope is not a strategy. This team is toast.

Never let facts get in the way of a good meltdown.

It’s what we’ve got to go on. A healthy, functioning Correa, a healthy, functioning Pressly, an adequate Miley and a more consistent stable of bullpen arms would require less hope. But we don’t have any of those things, do we?
