I think I’m out on Britton. I haven’t seen it with my eyes, but the numbers don’t look good, and the advanced stats look even worse

ETA: Ks are down, GB are down, Hard hit % is way up, etc, etc

Obviously a lock down closer would be nice and that would move HR to setup man, but if we could just get an extra high leverage arm it would help

And that's what Britton is. If he can be a guy who gets a tough left-handed hitter out or coaxes a double play ball in a tight spot, that can win you games. He's getting better as he pitches, and we can afford to make sure he's rested and peaking in October.

Yea that was really my point as well. I want Britton for those reasons.

I am fine with getting Britton but wouldn’t want him as the only reliever we get. I don’t think he will cost much at all so getting him in addition to someone like Iglesias is fine with me

That will create some tough roster choices though

Your situation would never happen. If we get one more high leverage guy in postseason I would feel more than comfortable: In post season you would have:
High leverage:
Lmj
Morton
Britton
Hector
CM

Middle:
Devo
Harris
Smith

Don't forget Peacock. I hope not to see Harris pitching any important postseason innings.

I'm actually fine with the bullpen for now especially if Rondon continues to close well. The pen has the 2nd best ERA in the majors. The weak link has been sent to Fresno. Sipp is pitching as well as he has in 3 years. I don't think adding Britton makes the pen appreciably better right now.

Game log my friend. Game log.

3 hits in his last 7 appearances. 3 walks 0 runs.

Coincides with a velo pick up. Started the season 93-94 on average. Now back up to 95-96 on average.

Britton is back. The time is now.

I did forget about the cock. Hopefully he continues to find his feel on the slider.

I don’t think Harris will pitch any high leverage innings. I could see him pitching some middle innings for a game we might be behind in.

No one else will move the needle.

Iglesias is a Giles in Chapman clothing.

Britton has done it before and the stuff is there to do it again.

For the second time in a row, Fox 8 gives the Stros no love.

Blue--Stros/Angels

Sure, for now. We're not playing the Yankees, Red Sox or Indians with the season on the line. That whole second best ERA in the majors deal was similar last year, but the elite teams in October ate those guys up.

After July 31, we can't add any experienced relievers so we have to strike in the next 10 days.

Britton, Soria and Iglesias are experienced closers who would make us better, even if Rondon remains the top closer choice. I also have a hunch on Adam Conley but that's for Ludlow to decide.

Shafted again by FOX. Which crooked politician's palms do I have to grease to get a goddamn Astros game in New Orleans??
