Pray for no comments from Astros personnel that include the term “discomfort”.

In this case I'm not opposed to a day off if he's still sore.

Would expect #Pirates to ask #Dodgers for catcher Keibert Ruiz in any talks for Felipe Vázquez. Ruiz, 20, has a .649 OPS at Double-A this season; he could address Pittsburgh's long-term catching need with Francisco Cervelli becoming a free agent after this year.

That's just one reporter's baseless speculation but Ruiz is a top 20-30 prospect. Tucker would be an equivalent.

The problem with trading for closers like Vasquez, Hand or Yates is that you're paying closer premiums where we don't necessarily need a closer. With Pressly and Osuna, we really just need a steady 7th inning guy who also serves as a late inning alternative to the usual 2.

One problem were going to be facing is a bit of an upcoming roster crunch. McHugh is back in the pen and Joe Smith is due back any day. If we add another bullpen arm, somebody is out. Devo or James?

I'd prefer to keep James but he will probably be the one to go.

The 2-year-old girl who was struck by a foul ball at Minute Maid Park on May 29 suffered a skull fracture and had a seizure, a spokesperson for the family said in a release issued Wednesday. The girl also had subdural bleeding, brain contusions, brain edema and an abnormal electroencephalogram, and is on medication to prevent further seizures. The family has retained attorney Richard Mithoff to advise about the incident, according to the release. No lawsuit has been filed, but Mithoff detailed the injuries in a letter to the Houston Astros organization advising it that he and family attorney Steve Polotko had been retained.

Not trying to derail and start a debate about nets... but this is an update on the little girl from the Cubs game for those that haven't seen it. Says she's to be evaluated again in July.

I feel awful for what happened to that little girl, but in no way should the ballclub be at risk for litigation here. At some point in this world people have to be responsible for their actions. The parents took the chance of bringing a young child to the game and sitting where they sat. I don't blame the club.

It would maybe be nice if the Astros offered on their own behalf to pay some of the medical costs if they haven't done so already.

It's at this point when you get into the legal ambiguity as to whether the Astros took enough reasonable mitigating steps to prevent injury to the fans. Astros would likely hold that they were proactive several seasons ago by expanding the netting to what was widely acceptable industry standards and that it was only recently that teams have started to expand netting into areas that would have prevented this girls injuries and that they plan to extend that netting soon.

As long as the Astros meet MLB's requirements on the netting, then I don't see how they could be held liable.

Yankees put Stanton back on the IL with a strained PCL. Probably strained it while he stumbled up the first base line laughing at Yuli's defense.

Valdez not the answer. Needs to be included in whatever deal we make.
