I'm expecting an offense explosion tonight. 5 hits.

I’ll say this our closer knows how to end tied games.

In Tucker’s last 11 games (his current hit streak) he is batting:
49 AB, 25 H, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 4 BB, .510 BA, .537 OBP, .735 SLUG, 1.272 OPS
7 of these 11 games have been 3 hit games for him.
I think he is pushing the subject of being called up. Hard to ignore his progress at the plate.

Giles is having a bizarre year.
His FIP is 1.93 l, walk rate is a career low but the strikeout rate is also at a career low, he's not giving up home runs but he's giving up a ton of hits
So he's got peripheral stats that support him being good and being bad.
I might dig into some fangraphs numbers later but the basic eye test looks like his slider just isn't a chase pitch anymore and hitters are sitting on his straight fastball. Which is why hits allowed is up and strikeouts are down. He's a 2 pitch guy and the fastball success is entirely tied to his slider''s success

Looking at the trade deadline, I’m thinking Davis, Fisher, Reed and white are all trade guys. Kemp should stay with the team because he is the defensive replacement for Marwin next year.
I guess Marisnick May be a “throw in”.

It's a new day, sports baws! Last night's debacle is over, and the DAT is ready for more.

I understand the absurdity of the “defensive replacement “... what I mean is, he doesn’t have Marwin’s power but he has the ability to play multiple positions. I don’t se anyone else in the organization that can fill Marwin’s role except Kemp. Even though he won’t be nearly as good as Marwin.

Josh Rojas, who is slumping at AA, is a multi position guy

The good thing is we don't really need a true Marwin clone moving forward because his eventually utility replacement doesn't have to play shortstop since we have Correa and Bregman.
I think tLLC would love it if they can let Marwin sign elsewhere (since he will likely be out of our budget) and have Yuli be a stopgap until someone like Josh Rojas (Corpus) is ready. But we don't know if Yuli can play corner OF or 3B decently, although he does have the arm for it.

I know we bring up the JD Martinez type player that is released before he demonstrates his true talent level...
But you guys remember Domingo Santana and Maverick? Wasn’t Maverick actually crowned ? Anyone think he will ever reach the level that certain community leaders anointed him?

The need for true utility, Marwin-like, will no longer be necessary once Ted occupies LF permanently.
Springer is going to be signed long term and play RF and CF w Reddick and whomever we settle on as a 4th OF.
Yuli as anything but a 1B-DH is going the route of Gattis as a C.
Long term, I can't wrap my head around any way White and Kemp can figure into the roster. I guess Kemp could get by in a Marisnick role, but would be a defensive liability, along w the fact his IF position is one in which we have the least needs.
White is only 1B-DH, which would be redundant, not to mention he probably couldn't even hold Yuli's jock at the MLB level.

A lot of interesting scenarios. Luhnow will be earning his money for sure.

Bregman is more than capable of filling in at SS or 2B in case of injury too

There's a reason Yuli played 3B this week. And I am willing to bet LF experimentation will come later this season. I'm not saying it will work out but I know they want to test what versatility he has. If he can just play 2B, 3B and home LF on occasion or in a pinch, it would help roster versatility a bunch for 2019 (post-Marwin).
As for Kemp and White, I think you're right. I love both but at least Kemp has established trade value now. He needs and deserves to play second base for somebody else. But tKing may end up as a guy who is cut loose when he runs out of options if he doesn't start hitting soon.
