DAT 6/22: YFPHA (Greinke) @ BAL (Lopez) | 6:05 CT
Posted by Domeskeller on 6/22/21 at 9:01 am130
Not even the weather could stop the Astros in a rain-soaked, 10-2 rout of the Orioles on Monday night. Houston stretched its winning streak to 8, and pushed its lead over Oakland to a full game in the American League West after the A's were dropped by the Rangers, 8-3. Jake Odorizzi and Cristian Javier combined for 7 shutout innings before run dispenser Brandon Bielak gave up the no-no bid and the shutout in the eighth.
Tonight, the Astros send Cereal Killer (7-2, 3.75 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) to the mound tonight against a Baltimore team that already appears to be dead. Jorge Lopez (2-8, 5.95, 1.48) gets his turn to be fresh meat for a ravenous Astros offense.

Any chance we re-sign Greinke in the off season?

Even if he retires/leaves our rotation when healthy is solid. Would be insane to get Greinke and JV back plus all the young guys we have now.

Yes.
I don't know if it's a good chance, but there's always a chance.
I hope JV and CK are both back on two-year deals.

The Orioles offense looked very pathetic last night. Their record indicates that maybe this is who they are on most nights.
I expect Greinke to carve them up tonight. Feel free to take that figuratively, literally, or any combination thereof...

I went to bed at the beginning of the second rain delay. I knew they wouldn’t bring Javier back, which meant maintaining the no-no was highly unlikely.

Yeah, I missed the late Angel Hernandez fun. Knowing AH, though, I’m sure it lived down to expectations as it did earlier in the game.

I honestly didn't really even care that much about the combined no-hitter. But Angel did Angel things and didn't call strike 3 on a Bielak pitch that stat-cast showed as being completely in the strike zone...not like half-on and half-off the corner, but COMPLETELY inside the box.
A couple pitches later, Oriole fat dude hit one out to left center.

You're on quite the DAT- starting run and I think you've got some gas left in the tank.

Waiting for the LSUBoo prediction after he nailed it last night with a bug win and Yordan mashing
I didn't expect a near no-no from the good guys, especially with Odorizzi starting. The Orioles have a few good hitters in their lineup.
Tonight is going to be a massacre. Probably not like the 23 the Astros scored in Baltimore in 2019, but I am expecting another double digit score for Houston and under 3 for Baltimore. Greinke runs into trouble in the 6th and gets out with just 1 run, but the bullpen does bullpen things with a big lead.
Yordan continues to mash. He sees the ball really well in Baltimore.
