His most impressive AB was the walk. The dude has a great eye and seems still at the plate. I was always told growing up you can tell how confident a player is by how still they are. I think in his best years he will be a high OBP guy and hit a bunch of dingers. His best years will look like this:

.275 45HR's 115 RBI's .395 OBP

OPPO power like that does not grow on trees. It makes you truly impossible to pitch to when you can hit the ball out of the park to any field. Only a dozen or so players in the game possess that

It will be interesting to see if other teams try the initial approach that the orioles tried. They were throwing him up and in, probably trying to keep him from extending his arms. Got him to pop up twice to left. But once they tried something out over the plate he crushed it. I see a lot of up and in and way away after two strikes for him resulting in a lot of walks.

That walk AB had me very impressed with his discipline. I figured a player in their first MLB AB would want to hack. I know I would.

If I were a pitcher, I would not throw him anything over the outer half of the plate. Flick of the wrists and the ball is off the community leaders signs.

To see him hit a changeup with that kind of authority to the opposite field was impressive. A changeup, where the pitcher is generating so little of the power.

If the big 3 can get healthy... this lineup.

Fun times.

Big 2.

Forget Correa. Look how shitty he was last year when he came back. Expect more of the same.

He wasn't healthy when he came back last year. It was a back injury that did not have time to heal. This is a broken rib. It's either healed or not healed.

Hinch on MLB Radio says Altuve is on track for a rehab assignment this weekend. It will be 3-5 games.

Springer, McHugh and Stassi will all follow very soon after.

Stassi. If they send Stubbs down for Stassi, there is something really wrong with this organization.

Ask Verlander how bad Stassi sucks.

I think they're gonna trade for a veteran backup before the deadline anyway. Stassi sucks but backup MLB catching sucks in many cases so they probably won't DFA him without options. I'd guess he goes out in the trade.

Barring injury, Stubbs will get a real chance at long term backup next year but let's not kid ourselves. He's nothing special either.

As for McHugh, I want the 2018 bullpen version of him back ASAP. Give me LaForce, too. That'll mean much less Rondon.

Without looking at any stats, Rondon has looked better to me of late.

Stats are important. Analytics are important. So is common sense. I don't trust anyone who says they trust Hector Rondon in high leverage.

Rondon and Harris are the same with me.

No real out pitch.

The Astros are big on missing bats, and they both pitch to contact

Yep but at least Harris is supposed to be a pitch-to-contact guy who has real movement on his pitches, matches up wel with left-handed bats and is a ground ball guy when he's on. Rondon is supposed to miss bats but his low spin rate fastball and rolling slider are not to be trusted.
