Our boys are playing some ball right now. Is it sustainable? Doubt it because 14-148 is still in the cards. Keuchel looks to continue his pitching from his last start and this offense will also try to continue it’s high performance in this heat wave in Chicago.

Side note, my apologies for not noticing it was Shields instead of Giolito last night. Busy day at work.

As we get deeper into the season, I would just like to remind everyone that we are the defending World Series champions and how awesome that is. Alright then, carry on. Go Stros.

Mid season last year, I was all in on trading for Sonny Gray. not doing that completely worked out for us.

Looks like Cadet Verlander has graduated from Brian McCann's Baseball Police Academy

quote:

Verlander fell behind 3-0 to the next batter, Omar Narvaez. On his fourth offering, Anderson broke for second base. The Astros led the game 5-0.

"He steals on 3-0 in a 5-0 game, that's probably not great baseball," Verlander said. "Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, I don't know. But he celebrated that, though. And it's like 'Hey, I'm not worried about you right now. It's 5-0, I'm giving a high leg kick, I know you can steal. If I don't want you to steal, I'll be a little bit more aware of you. But I'm trying to get this guy out at the plate.'"

Right. In that article I took that from Verlander basically says he told him thanks for the free out baw and that's what chapped Andersons arse.

Yuli's brother picked up 2 hits last night. Dudes got the exact same swing as Yuli.

LINK

Also included in those highlights is a home run from former Astros great Teobaw Hernandez.

It’s funny thinking back to some of the names

We got verlander and Cole which early returns go without saying

Other prominent names
Gray
Quintana
Britton
Darvish

Ludlow has been hitting every note for the last year and a half or so

Also got lucky Britton fell through. Rangers would never have traded Darvish to us either.

Pretty good lineup tonight, Gattis in the 9 hole.

No fisher or Marisnick

Given the uselessness of Jake and Fisher so far, I wish they'd give Tony Kemp and extended look. I know he hasn't hit much in his looks so far but he also played pretty sporadically.

He's off to another good start for Fesno. .339 .459OBP 3 doubles 1 triple 10RBI in 15 games 14 walks 9 strikeouts. He's a .310 hitter at AAA. He's walked 104 times to 123 strikeouts. He added some power to his game last year with 10 home runs.

Hes already 26. Maybe he's a AAAA player, maybe not. I think he's done just about all he can at AAA. With the embarrassing lack of production were getting from the 9 hole so far, Kemp would be hard pressed to do much worse than those guys.
