Have we found ourselves an offense or is it a mirage? Cole’s our there looking like a savvy vet after not having his best stuff, offense put up a nice crooked number and we even had some very nice defensive plays.

Chuck Salty looks to keep things going on the mound this afternoon as he goes up against Marco Gonzales who is sporting a sexy 8.25 era.

But let’s not celebrate yet, 12-150 still looms.

This offense will slowly wake up. Springer, Bregman, Yuli and Marwin will all be around 50 average points better (if not more) as the year goes, and our starting pitching won't be this good the entire year.

However, if this team is clicking on all cylinders, it is going to be a beast every day

Maybe not quite THIS good, but I think that the correction will be minimal.

If we finish the year with 3 starting pitchers (with more than 20 starts each) who have a sub 1.5 ERA I'll buy you world series game 1 and 2 tickets come October

Call Tucker Up

quote:

Which means it's Tucker time. Kyle's fourth year arbitration clock has already struck. If you're not on the 40-man yet you don't have to wait until June to be called up and get that extra year of service. I guess the thought being that if you're that good why make the kid and the team wait? It's how the Cubs brought up Kris Bryant so early and still held his rights for that extra year. It paid off big time for them.

quote:

Does Kyle Tucker assure that? No but he can't be any worse than what's happening now. Who knows? He may be this year's Cody Bellinger, another guy who came up late last year and got that Super 2 status. Think he made a difference for the Dodgers? The Astros have historically been a team that was hesitant to bring up young players early. Ask George Springer about that. But that was a different team. They weren't going to win anything so why start his Major League clock? That made sense. Keeping Tucker down doesn't. He is not ripping the cover off the ball in Fresno (he's hitting .235 but his OPS is over .700 and he's showing he's got a disciplined eye at the plate with 9 walks in 60 plate appearances) but none of that matters anyway. He showed he can hit in the spring and he might be like that good college football team that doesn't make the playoffs and has to go to a lesser bowl game. Sometimes there's a natural letdown if you feel like you should be playing somewhere else.

What I liked most about last nights game was that the scoring wasn't all done off of HR's. Past teams were so hit or miss. Don't always have to hit the HR, but just string some hits together and play smart.

Tucker has only played like 80ish games above A ball, bringing him up right now would be detrimental IMO

ETA: I know that Correa and Bregman played fewer than that, but they also raked not long before being called up. Tucker needs to do that first

Is he Ted or not? If he's truly Ted, it doesn't matter.

Personally, I agree. That was more a playful jab at the grand expectations that we place on players sometimes.

Plus there’s really no reason so bring him up before super 2 concerns are past

The delay is understandable. When Crane is done installing the pond in left field that Ted can walk on, it'll be a huge homefield advantage. RIP all other left fielders.

tKing is too good for Fresno.
1.083 OPS, 8 BB/ 5K, 5 HR

Kalas made a good point that if the rotation keeps giving us 6 innings a night, an 8 man pen may become useless and an extra bench player could be beneficial. I may have to send Luhnow a letter.

His super 2 date has already passed per the article I posted above. We already have the extra year of team control on his contract if we brought him up today.

Super 2 is different. That date is around late June, and means he would stay at 3 years of arbitration while he’s under our control instead of 4.
