As for closer, the trade market in the offseason will surely be more reasonable than the deadline. We'll get one for a fair price.

Astros Window of Opportunity
This is what worries me about this regime. From the owner down, we don't know what will happen as the players come of age and have to be paid. Will they move people once they get too expensive? This quote "And we do feel like with Keuchel and (Carlos) Correa and Springer and the young players that we have already here, the clock is ticking. We need to win while they're here; hopefully we retain them all, but who knows?" makes me believe they will proceed on the cheap. I hope I am wrong.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros' outfield became a little more crowded on Tuesday, and that's just fine with Tim Purpura. After watching the Astros reach the World Series in 2005 -- despite the club finishing in the bottom five in nearly every offensive category -- having extra players who can hit is a problem that Houston's GM is happy to have.
The Astros inked outfielder Preston Wilson to a one-year deal worth $4 million, with a club option for three more years that could be worth up to $9 million a year if incentive clauses are met.

Bleacher report had us linked with Chris davis.... Do not want.
They also said lind could be a cheap guy to platoon with carter, not a bad idea imo

Five days after a potential trade with the White Sox came apart, Houston acquired Jennings and pitcher Miguel Asencio from the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday for outfielder Willy Taveras and pitchers Taylor Buchholz and Jason Hirsh -- who all would have been sent to the White Sox.
"This gives us a solid No. 2 starter and some depth in the bullpen," Astros general manager Tim Purpura said. "It's an exciting day for us."

Maybe, But i just dont see how adding him to carter/gattis can be helpful. Just adds more clutter.

We already have our own version of Chris Davis, that would be an awful move.
I would dance naked in the streets if we could pull in Alex Gordon.
An outfield of Gordon, Gomez and Springer..... Nothing would fall in that outfield.

But Davis can play either corner outfield spot. He comes into the equation because we are looking for an everyday left fielder. Davis also played a bunch of games in RF and did well there.

But but but Gordon
I've already fallen in love with the thought of that defensive outfield

He is gonna demand an absurd contract I bet

I don't want Gordon because we'd be stuck in too large/long a contract for his age.
