Watched it last night. Shameful for the Hart family to treat the wife that way, esp after what the WWF did to Brett.
Owen seemed like a really good guy amd fk the WWF for continuing to go on with the show after he died basically in the ring.
Haven't watched wrestling in yrs but the Road Warriors episode was well done also.

I thought it was interesting that they didn't mention just how he died. I guess blunt force trauma was implied but I thought they'd explain it more in detail. Also, I never saw the blood on the mat before. I still can't believe they didn't stop the show.

Yeah the family didn't want to be ex-communicated from wrestling.
Once they realized Vince was just a scumbag, they were all for it.
But they still don't explain anything apart from the carabine was crap for that weight.
Did it break? Did he accidentally release it? Wasn't it even on? Did he just fall from the scaffold?
Even in the doc they say, the clip is crap and used for sails but it can't release itself. I mean there had to have been an investigation. I don't know why the real story has never been released in full. (Settlement non-disclosure agreement, I'm guessing so WWE doesn't have to admit fault.)

Jim Ross is the quintessential company man, so you knew he was never going to flat out criticize the decision to continue on camera, but you could tell he knew it was wrong then and knows it was wrong now.
Also seeing Jim Cornette get choked up at one point saying Owen reportedly yelled "look out" as he fell to his death was pretty harrowing.

Story I’ve heard was that the costume and harness were so tight that, if Owen turned or breathed wrong, it could have triggered the fall.
Hence the bit of Martha talking about WWE calling in a rush trying to get Owen’s measurements a few days before the show.

Its a shame Owen died as the blue freaker blazer.
Dude was a legit talent, and highly respected by everyone in the business.

Problem was that “WWE Creative”, which is an oxymoron, couldn’t think of a Jerry Springer quality gimmick he would agree to.
If he agreed to a kayfabe affair with Debra McMichael, they wouldn’t have dressed him up in blue chicken suit.

I’ll be honest. I hated that blue blazer bit. It was so damn stupid. Never was a big Owen Hart fan either. Great technical wrestler for sure but without his death and the manner of his death I don’t think he would’ve been much more than a footnote in wrestling history

I did think this was one of the all-time heel moves:
Also, he was in one of my favorite matches growing up in the main event of In Your House: Canadian Stampede.

Watching most of these and being a wrestling fan in the mid 90s as a kid, it was odd seeing Cornette showing emotion. He's a constant promo but that moment really broke him down.
Also, frick Vince McMahon. This show has done a great job of exposing what a piece of shite the dude is.

Lol yes that was great
Idk it just seemed like there wasn’t something missing with Owen that he just couldn’t get over the top

Both Harts were average sized, not in great shape (especially Owen), and dull and mediocre on the mic. Yes, majority of the audience doesn't care if you can do great technical stuff, it's like watching the wnba. Give me Sid Justice and The Steiners.

Bret Hart is terribly boring.

I think because he lived in Bret's shadow, and Vince never saw him as much more than that

and spitting at Vince to give the illusion he was a badass

Is Jim Cornette and Russo in this together?
Posted on 5/21/20 at 10:53 am to Maximus
Bret was a solid heel brah

The irony is that the screw job might have actually been the best thing that happened to his career. If it hadn’t happened, he would have still gone to WCW, they would have still had no idea how to use him, and he would have just fizzled out and been mostly forgotten except for in Canada. WWE had moved on, and he wouldn’t have fit into the attitude era. The screw job is the single biggest reason people even still think about him today.
