With the start of the NFL Scouting Combine just around the corner (March 2-5 on NFL Network and NFL+), here's my second projection of the year for Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. The quarterback carousel is going to shake up the outlook for the draft, with some big-name veterans potentially on the move this offseason. When the dust settles, I think we're going to see a heavy run on defensive linemen and cornerbacks in the first round.

1. Chicago Bears

Jalen Carter
Georgia · DT · Junior

2. Houston Texans

Bryce Young
Alabama · QB · Junior

3. Arizona Cardinals
Tyree Wilson
Texas Tech · Edge · Senior (RS)

First edge rushers off the board? Over Will Anderson Jr.? There’s a lot of love for Wilson around the league. His combination of size, length and production has teams very intrigued.

4. Indianapolis Colts

C.J. Stroud
Ohio State · QB · Junior

5. Seattle Seahawks

(via DEN)

Will Anderson Jr.
Alabama · Edge · Junior

6. Detroit Lions
(via LAR)

Myles Murphy
Clemson · Edge · Junior

7. Las Vegas Raiders

Will Levis
Kentucky · QB · Senior (RS)

8. Atlanta Falcons

Lukas Van Ness
Iowa · Edge · Sophomore (RS)

9. Carolina Panthers

Peter Skoronski
Northwestern · OL · Junior

10. Philadelphia Eagles
(via NO)

Devon Witherspoon
Illinois · CB · Senior

Raiders taking Levis would be hilarious

Also great pickup for Indy if stroud falls that far

that was my thought as well. They could be really good if they get the right pieces around him.

Levis at #7 and Richardson at #18 are the biggest WTF projections in that mock.

Yet more proof that NFL GMs can talk themselves into quite literally anything because of measurables and/or athleticism.

I bet he ends up higher than 7 when it all shakes out.

If the Texans take Young over Stroud I'll be upset. Not that I think Young is bad at all, just that I think Stroud seems "safer" with his size. Young could have really high upside but it's not as safe a pick to me

As a Texans fan, I'd prefer Stroud

This is one of the rare years where im all in on almost all of the mocks for the Pats. Product of having a lot of needs I guess any top tackle or corner I’d be most happy with, but also like the options at WR, LBer, and even TE

That being said, Can’t wait to trade down and select a DT with bad knees at 25

Is Jalen carter really worthy of no.1 overall? I mean that Georgia defense was dominant and I’d say he’s a 1st round talent no doubt, and the best interior d lineman in the draft, but I just don’t see him being a once in a generation tackle the way Aaron Donald is or Ndamakung suh when he came out, which is what I feel like you should be if you’re a no.1 overall draft pick at DT

Seems like the typical Falcons reach for a project in the top 10.

The idea of Atlanta fans, who want nothing more (including winning), than having a black QB, drafting a white edge rusher, is delicious.

Van Ness is a stud and punked Skoronski.

His versatility and upside are huge.

Saints mocked for Zay Flowers at #29:
quote:

Flowers is one of the most enjoyable players to study in this year’s class. He'd be a lock for the top 15 if he were two inches taller.

Like an extra 2 inches makes that much of a difference...maybe not the 1st time I've ever said that!

Dude's 270+ with a six pack. His combine numbers will be off the charts.
