Next to 2016 (his unanimous MVP year), this is currently the best statistical season of Steph's career and his team's essentially running away with the West 1 seed

It's amazing how quietly he's doing it, too. I'm a Warriors fan and even I feel like I've been sleeping on him this year.

The MVP season was his official arrival as generational player, so I feel like it had a novelty to it.

hate curry.. but the most amazing part is he is doing it with 3 other allstars on the team, one who is a former mvp and top 3 player in the world himself. Pretty ridiculous

Harden is averaging 31 ppg and 9.1 apg and has a slightly higher, but virtually the same PER at 29.6.

No, that wasn't the argument. Curry was awarded the MVP 2 seasons before even though he had inferior stats to Harden. And the argument then was that Curry had the better team and that justifies it. GSW was #1 an HOU was #2 that year.

So the year it came down to Harden and Westbrook, people were using the same exact argument the voters used to justify giving Curry the MVP 2 season prior. And this time, it wasn't the #1 seed and the #2 seed... the Thunder were the #6 seed. The whole "better team" thing was completely ignored to justify giving it to Westbrook over Harden, and it was the sole argument used previously to justify giving it to Curry over Harden.

So now that the Warriors are on top again and Curry is putting up good numbers, we're back to the "better team" argument to justify a Steph Curry MVP again. It's BS.

My argument is that Steph, like LeBron, is the face of the NBA and a generational player that has inspired many an aspiring player due to how he's changed the game with his proficiency from 3, simple to say Harden's on the cusp just he hasn't reached that point yet I mean hell his teammate CP3 receives more attention with his product endorsements and featured spots on tv shows like Lip Sync Battle.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with all of that, none of it has anything to do with the MVP race.

I'm not saying it was awful. I'm saying his stats weren't as good.

I use virtually the same stats any time I discuss players.

Points, assists, rebounds, and TS%.
